do you..

i am running..
the path is desolate, overgrown by the trees that contorted the trail.
silence. you consume me. making my breaths louder and heavier than they appear to be (even for a pack a day smoker) for an instant i realize my solitude.

in the distance i see her. the blackness lingers what seems miles away but quickly approaches. i am suddenly overwhelmed by the cool breeze that proceeds her presence. she is upon me. i can see the lot from here, maybe a mile to go before i reach the car. maybe minutes before she unleashes.

the wind picks up. cold, loud. causing the tree tops to dance and the eeriness to exceed. alone, i challenge her. acknowledge her greatness, her power and gamble my comfort for a few more minutes…

i am greeted with such anger. such force the wind bears down, halting my pace. i am forced to stay my place, abandon the course my feet want to travel (my mind wants to encourage) for a moment i pause, take in the awesome moment of lonely man in the midst of great nature.

and as she consumes the setting sun darkness creeps much quicker…
