My view on Marriage

I came across a copy of an email I’d sent to Andy some time during our friendship last year. And the topic was Marriage.

And this is what I found:

 

 

Mi idea del Matrimonio es tener un companero – un amigo… Y no un padre. Un padre pone reglas y tiene expectaciones del estilo de vida que uno deberia escoger. Pero un companero o un amigo es alguien con quien uno pueda vivir sin tener que poner reglas a cada rato – porque simplemente el uno y el otro se entienden. Eso es el Matrimonio para mi. Tener a alguien a quien acudir cuando me sienta sola; o tener alguien con quien yo pueda conversar malos y bienes; o simplemente poder estar en la misma piesa , cada uno en su mundo sin tener que decir nada; o tener a alguien que sepa lo que yo quiera decir sin yo tener que decir nada porque me conoce cada gesto y cada habito. Un amigo con quien yo pueda viajar y bailar, y disfrutar la vida…

 

TRANSLATION: 

My view on marriage is to have a companion – a friend. And not a father. A father lays down rules and expectations about the lifestyle that one should lead. But a companion or friend is someone with whom you can live life without having to place down rules all the time – simply because each of you understand the other. That is marriage to me.

Having someone to turn to when I feel lonely; or having someone that I can converse with about good and bad; or simply being in the same room, each lost in their own thoughts, without having to say anything; or having someone that knows what I want to say because he knows every facial expression and every habit. A friend with whom I can travel and dance with, and enjoy life with…
