R.I.P Z…

Oh my god…WHY IS EVERYBODY DIEING???

My grandpa told me at the restaurant today…he didn’t know that I didn’t know. Zach died on friday evening…I was shocked to hear it, but I knew he was going to all along. People die..it happens.

Everyone was wearing white shirts on friday at school that said "Pray for Zach". They had giant posters up, with markers next to them so you could sign them. Even Mr.Duez said he was going to die, not straight forward, but its what he meant, and Mr. Duez is always right…
Mr.Duez looked at all the shirts and posters and said to the class "I don’t want you to think im being pessimistic…but if praying always worked, this world would be a perfect place."

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I’m atheist, so of course I believe when you are praying, you’re just talking to a figment of your imagination. But prayer was all people had, so I didn’t say anything. As soon as I heard he died, I remembered back on those people I had an argument with about religion a few weeks ago and thought "Where’s your god now, huh?"

I couldn’t get ahold of kirsten to ask her and make sure it was true…because my grandparents saw it on the news, and the news can get things confused sometimes. But I just got on his myspace…and got off…because I couldn’t bear to read the comments….

I can’t believe it though….he’s dead, he’s actually DEAD….
No more football, no more swimming…. I’m glad I had a doctor appointment yesterday morning and didn’t go to the mock meet. I’m sure they probably didn’t even have the mock meet….I need to find out when his funeral is…I’m sure I will tomorrow. No doubt half the school will be crying all day…

I wasn’t incredibly good friends with him, but i knew him and he was on my swim team…

At least he died a memorable death. He was on the news. In Pennsylvania even according to Mr.Duez’s sister. He died from rabies, in case anyone is actually reading this and wondering….He was 16, in 10th grade…he was in all honors classes, had like a 4.5 gpa…He had a good life ahead of him…

As Mr. Duez said, in what seemed to me a more post-death speech rather than a "just in case" one, if anything good comes out of this, its that people now know more about rabies, and how it can be spread, and how to avoid it and recognize it and get treatments.

R.I.P Zach Jones…..Everyone’s gonna miss you…
