Counting The Seconds
Well, not long now until I depart for my much anticipated and long awaited vacation to Prague! I am literally counting down the seconds. I just can’t wait to see Frank. It has been far, far too long. It will take all the strength I have not to tackle him in the airport and tear off his clothes right there in front of all the holiday travelers, ha ha. Poor guy. He’s not even going to know what hit him. But I am just as excited to just be able to sit next to him, a long, tiring flight. I have butterflies just thinking about it. I have all this love, happiness and everything just bubbling up inside of me. I feel like I am about to explode any second. *Sigh*
The house is clean, my uncle arrived from Chicago today and is now at my house with mom and David visiting while I sit here at work. I feel left out but there’s nothing I can do about it, I have to work right? Tomorrow night I am making this HUGE turkey dinner with mash potatoes, stuffing, green beans, corn, dinner rolls, and home made brownies for dessert! Every one seems to be looking forward to it. I’m not a bad little cook I must say. Hehe. I invited one of the housekeepers who works here to our dinner. She lives at home with her son and ex-husband and they forget she’s even alive. She does the world for both of them, and on December 5th they couldn’t even be bothered to wish her a happy birthday. I found out later she got tired of waiting for some one to acknowledge her, and for dinner popped a waffle into the toaster. A waffle!!! I almost came unglued. This woman is so incredibly sweet and giving, and caring and she’d give everything she had if some one needed it, and she gets a son and ex-husband who aren’t worth crap in return for it. So I told her she wasn’t going to sit at home with them while they did what they wanted, so she could cook for them, clean for them, whatever. I insisted she come have dinner with us. She was a bit reluctant but I didn’t really give her a choice. Now she seems almost really excited and wants to come over even earlier to help me cook! *Smile*
I hate people who take other people for granted. Especially some one who deserves to be cherished and doted on …you know? Her heart is so big, it’s too big sometimes. She was so “bah-humbug” about Christmas this year. I wanted her to have something to look forward to. Even though my mom and I had like ZERO money, I used some of my vacation money and bought her some presents. She seemed to love them all but was mad that we went out of our way like that. But I didn’t see it as going out of my way. I saw it as making some one happy, some one smile who hasn’t smiled in a long time. She needed to be shown she’s appreciated and well loved-liked. You know? So even though we have a super tiny dinner table, that barely seats four, I’ll make it work. She’s having dinner with us. I even bought a bottle of really nice California Port (Wine) and plan on having it with the dinner. It’s a dark burgundy, and will look so pretty in the wine glasses my mom got from her parents when she married my dad. They sit in a curio cabinet and never get used. So now they will!!! I am going to take pictures after I set the table, hehe. I have never served a “formal” type dinner before so I am excited.
The thing about Debbie (the housekeeper) is she has gotten so used to being alone and at home that she is timid about doing things outside the home, except for Bingo nights with my mom every Thursday. They are both lonely women who need a good friend. They get along great already, so I am slowly getting her away from her, homebody-ness and getting her out of the house. Like, we’ve invited her out to dinner a few times and she was there for my mom’s birthday and stuff. So my mom is really excited that she’s coming to dinner.
I am hoping that during my trip I will be able to log on and update OD so that I won’t have to fill in so much when I return. I find that by waiting I miss a lot of detail when I tell of my adventures. So I am thinking if I just took a few minutes every day we’re there, like when Frank is in the shower or something, I can fill every body in or something!!! I don’t think I’ll be able to post pictures daily so that might have to wait until I return. We’ll see. Frank has been playing with his new camera since he got home, and he’s figured out just how many pictures 2 gig will hold, haha. So I am sure there will be LOTS of pictures for me to share!
Anyway, I work on Christmas so I’ll update on how the dinner went. =)
!!!!!!! have fun!!!!!!! i can’t wait to see all these pics…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! –
