explanation

That
last entry requires some explanation:

Last week, I discovered that my
best pal, Kelly (eeee!)  was going to be in
Richmond!!!! I was so incredibly
excited.  x10 at least.  Richmond is only about a 3 hour car
ride away, vs. the 6 hour plane ride that it would normally take to
get home to see her, or any of my friends.  I was absolutely
determined to see her, no matter what.  Even if I was going to have to
hitch hike to get there.  However, with the lucky coincidence that Katie is
from Richmond, no extremes were
necessary.  I had a ride.  I could barely hold in my excitement.
You must understand, I have not seen a single one of my friends for over a
month.  I was not going to see any of them until Christmas due to the
succinct nature of both “fall break” (a three day weekend *monkey frown*)
and thanksgiving break (only Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday *bigger
monkey frown*).  Neither of these so-called “vacations” (hah!) are long
enough to justify the money it costs for round trip airfare.  But Kelly was
going to be in Richmond!!!! I was going to see
her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not.  I talked
to Kelly to tell her the fabulous news.  It was not so fabulous.
Turns out, I cannot visit her after all.  The bereavement camp– the reason
she is in Richmond– does not allow visitors.  I
was so upset.  I cried a lot.  It was at this point that I felt
again just how much I really wish I could be with my friends more
often.
