Auntiiieee

October 13, 2019 – 12:35 P.M.

I tried writing last night when I was lying in bed but I passed out immediately.

Friday night I got some food and ate at my little sister’s house. And of course passed put on her couch for who knows how long. When I woke up groggy and still very tired I told her I was going home. When I walked out and up the steps I stopped abruptly by the sound of a young child crying. I stood there listening trying to assess it. I dont think much time passed but I felt like a weirdo standing outside at 2 in the morning so I went to my car. But I still didnt feel good about it. I drove across the parking lot to my side of the complex and parked but I had already called my little sister to get her opinion on the cries. She was unsure as well. Then she said she could see and hear the parents moving around but not talking to the kid. And also pointed out the dad sounded irritated. That made me feel worse. I know there’s some sketchy people living around here and I didnt want it to be a case of neglected kid of parents doing drugs. So I drove back over. The crying continued. Finally I just looked up the nonemergency line and called. I told them I heard crying, the kid sounds distressed. So they patched me over to officers and they came out pretty quickly. I was very nervous. I’ve never called authorities or anything before. Of course by the time the cops arrive the crying had stopped. I told them I didnt think maybe the kid was just not feeling well or something and I might have overreacted but they reassured me then went on to check. When they came back, the neighbors had told them they had a colicky baby. I was relieved and apologized but we both agreed we would rather be safe than sorry. And I felt bad toward the parents. But in general all was well.

Fast forward to the next morning, I woke up and it was on my mind. A few minutes later I get a message from my little sister saying she thinks those people are still sketchy because if they did have a baby with colic wouldn’t she hear it more often? And it sounded like a toddler, not a baby. I quickly agreed because it didn’t sound like a small baby at all and we know they have a toddler, we’ve seen her. I just wasn’t thinking about it that night. I even googled to see how long colic lasts and I found it says babies usually grow out of in by 3-4 months. I know not everything on the internet is true. I’m not a parent or doctor. I’m just someone who feels suspicious and concerned about a child. Giving the benefit of the doubt but vigilant at the same time. I know they could’ve been arguing or something and obviously didn’t want to tell the cops that and get thrm involved. I just don’t want their kid to be in trouble or danger, that’s all.

Onto a lighter note. My niece is finally saying “auntie”! I went to the store with her and my older sister. I ran off to look for some bagels lol and when I came back my sister excitedly said, ” she was yelling for you saying auntie” I was surprised and said that was cute. I can’t remember when I heard it first but what’s coming to mind is when she was out in her car seat and I was still in my sister’s house I heard her saying auntie over and over lol oh man 💔 Later that evening she ran from the kitchen to the living room yelling for me and at first, I’m not used to her addressing me, didnt notice lol but then it dawned on me and she brought me her little bag of unopened fruit snacks, which I then opened for her. It has to be the cutest thing ever. I’m excited for my little sister to hear it. Aaahn-tee! 😅 It was the last one of the mama, dada, nana, yaya (the dog), mo! (My nephew) bunch but I’m glad to be joining the club. Finally! haha
