Burnt Out.
I am burnt out this week. I have stepped up my game at work massively. I have done so in a professional sense as well as a social sense. I am now the team’s spirit squad again, keeping everyone from falling asleep or getting angry, and quite frankly it’s the only thing that kept me sane this week. I plan on using this long weekend to get back to normal.
Other than that, y’know how I was sick last week? Or was it the week before? I dunno, my brain is mush. Anyways, I had pneumonia. Tell you what, I didn’t expect it to be so mild. I will say this, though. I got a LOT more done during that week at work than in the entire previous month. I may find myself in double digits before february. I went in to work today, got someone’s financial aid stuff finished. Another appointment didn’t show, and so I decided to do some homework. Which…brings me to my next subject.
I have always feared that my wrestling days may have turned a once MENSA-worthy(though that is up for debate) brain into a mushy prison for any unfortunate thoughts. As I sat and tried to do my homework today, I found myself not being able to comprehend anything. It’s happening more and more lately. It was happening during my first block, but I would have a lucid day, at least once a week in which I would just do everything I hadn’t done in the past few days. Well, I haven’t had a lucid day in weeks. I can think, and I could likely bullshit a final essay and get 100%, but the things in the interim are what will cause me to fail. Maybe it’s just from being burnt out.
I’m going to sleep ridiculously well tonight, and tomorrow I will attempt my homework again. If all else fails, I may have to wait until I’m on meds or something.
As for Max, now that I realise that I am doing a lot of catching up, he is doing great. It’s as though the visit to the vet ended up being a sort of ‘scared straight’ program for him, as he is suddenly more alert, playful, suddenly more muscular(his spine doesn’t even show anymore!), and just all-around a better dog. I wonder if it may have been a hormonal thing that he was going through, as his testicles have finally descended. Our little boy’s a man!
As for our real little boy, he’s coming along great. We’ve been told, and we means my wife and mother-in-law, that our baby is perfectly normal and healthy. We got new ultrasounds, but they’re not on disk, so it will be a couple days before they are on the website. You can find a link to that a couple of entries back, or on the front page when I decide to put it there.
The Adam Carolla Show sucks with Bonaduce on it. he’s such an angsty guy, kinda puts a big damper on the whole show. I really liked Dave and Tad. Numbah One Sports made me feel like a real manly man. Well, that and the fact that I have a wiener.
Have y’all seen the Eragon movie? great movie, if you haven’t read the book. My wife was fixin’ to read it too, just as we went to see the movie, and so I had to tell her things like ‘Okay, these past ten minutes never happened in the book’ and ‘Okay, the entire last hour or so of the movie never happened in the book’. We went and hung out with Casey and meg that night too. ‘Twas muchly cool.
I also hung out with Casey today at work. Muchly cool as well. Ultra-cool, in fact!
Peace out, homies, the wife is asking me to go to sleep, and that is just such a ridiculously enticing idea right now. Been thinking of doing that for a couple hours now.
I want to read the book before I see the movie, so I hope I get around to doing that soon…haha. cause I really wanna see the movie! it looks great. -twiggy
