POEM (063) Devolve
Devolve
Knuckle scrapping over broken ground,
plodding where it’s trodden down,
dragging the body, screaming aloud,
forcing forward the club of splintered brown.
A shriek, a yelp, a growling howl,
the mighty alpha roar in the dusk,
the beta in submission to cowl,
ridden from mighty oaks, to husk.
Eyes blazed in clear cut glowing
in the heated fire havoc running amok
new exciting, terror veins flowing,
clutching the club as they bang on rock.
Dominant male taking control,
minions following by dire dumbness,
driving forward, crouch, huddle, roll,
barriers down, leaves of glass lost fullness.
They say we’ve evolved, single cell, ape, man.
They say we’ve evolved into the best we can.
From what can be seen today, we’re no longer human,
nor monkey, nor enema, not today, not men.
This isn’t the work of a civilisation,
this has no classification,
as humanity slips through our hands,
our evolution doesn’t seem to have occurred,
it’s lost, devolved, rebels, riot, blurred.
Very nice! I ove your topic and how you worded it. Very original. 🙂
