Fluxt Up

So here’s what’s going on right now. First off, my roommate Julia is moving out at the end of the month, leaving me and Nick to split the rent until the lease expires, which is kinda sucky as I barely afford rent as it is. Also, it means that, once again, I have to find a new place to live.

However, there are options. First and foremost, this could be a good time to finally move far, far away from this state. On option would be to move with my brother in August to Boston and live in a loft of a condo he and his friends are sharing (and by Boston I mean Waltham).

On the other hand, this could be the point where I simply move to Minneapolis-St. Paul in the interest of starting work on my next book (which is set there). Rent can be cheaper there than here, I have friends who can advise me, and it will probably have a better job market than my current whereabouts. Or I can just stay in Burlington another year, and continue my soul-murdering job at the movie theater (which is currently trimming hours like gangbusters because we have nothing but movies nobody wants to see, and it will likely stay that way until summer), and continue trying to make a writing career happen while I’m here. On the other hand, an apartment in Minneapolis or Waltham will probably have a mailbox. Hey, who wants to give me advice?

In more promising news, I have started a new writing project. It will be a short story/novella length piece, which means I may well post it here. I’ve already got the first 1,300 words written, and will do my best to finish it promptly. As far as details, all I can give you is the title, which is Partyville USA (no ruining it, those of you who already know).

And that’s me, how was your day?

moving blows! i say that if you’re packing up your stuff anyway, you might as well get the hell out of there. start something new. i’m i right to assume that Partyville USA will be the feel-good short story of the year? ~

I agree with veggio. I think a move further away would be good for you.

RYN: love the Sam Rockwell. also! forgot to mention: i’m only like an hour from Waltham. not that Ignacio can navigate highways, but still. if your new life is ever too exciting, and you need a good chunk of boredom dropped into your lap, i’d be close by! ~
