What a Wonderful World
Remember the days of being childlike and looking at the world with rose colored glasses? This is something I may have lost a little bit of as I went through life and got caught up on the day to day operations of working, paying bills, cooking, cleaning and taking care of all the things life has put on my plate. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to wake up every day and see just what a wonderful world this really is.
The mind is powerful. It makes humans believe things that aren’t even true. All of those little voices that I carry around in my mind. Things I have heard along the way. Things I think are true and really have nothing to do with me at all. They are the belief systems that were placed upon me by my mother, father, friends and passer-bys.
There came a day in life when I had to separate what I really believe deep inside of myself and what others have lead me to believe. The mind is not who I really am. This is just a part of me that talks everyday on a regular basis. It has nothing to do with the spirit within me. Life is a teacher. Some of the lessons I had to learn in life were hard lessons. But in the end they all brought me back to the same place….my spirit. This is what I need to listen to each day. What is my spirit telling me?
When I was little I listened to my spirit more than my mind. I went through life with the innocence of a child. I was wide open and ready for anything the world had to offer. As I continued on my path I got beaten down by what my mind told me was true. I started to lose who I really was and conformed. I didn’t always have a choice as to what happen to me….but I did have a choice of what I let in and believed.
I need to make a more conscious effort to remind myself that spirit is what is real. The mind is full of ego and thinks it knows best. But it really doesn’t know anything at all.
Isn’t it great when the mind and the spirit come together? It is a moment of realizing I am truly blessed and this place I call earth isn’t so bad. These are the moments I can say What a Wonderful World!
I see trees of green,
red roses too.
I see them bloom,
for me and you.
And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue,
And clouds of white.
The bright blessed day,
The dark sacred night.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.
The colors of the rainbow,
So pretty in the sky.
Are also on the faces,
Of people going by,
I see friends shaking hands.
Saying, "How do you do?"
They’re really saying,
"I love you".
I hear babies cry,
I watch them grow,
They’ll learn much more,
Than I’ll ever know.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.
Yes, I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.
Oh yeah.
