Yeah!!!

I’m so happy today. I called last week the intake coordinator from our local ARC.   As I sent in a bunch of paperwork to the state by March and have been waiting for an answer from them or at least letting me know that they rescheduled the fair hearing from December.  This is for services I’ve been fighting for for Andrew since July 2007. They’ve denied countless times for various reasons. One being that he was disabled because his father died… another was they didn’t like the diagnosis , they thought PDDNOS was wrong.  Then latest was wording and how a diagnosis can be the same and have 2 official titles.  Like its not obvious that Developmental Coordination disorder  is a developmental disabilty.  nope NOT OBVIOUS . They ,however, like Developmental Dyspraxia better….whats the difference…NOTHING but words….    GRRR .   SO today I got word he was APPROVED. He is now officially disabled!  He gets Medicaid no matter the circumstance of my job.  He gets other services too!!I ‘m so happy! Not that he is labeled but for all the services he will get .    

Seriously I think I should become a disabilities coordinator.  Its like been my whole adult life.   I worked for ARC and the Blind School …I had to do the grunt work for my husbands disability and now Andrew.  Unfortunately Dennis is headed in that general direction al though he won’t admit it. Its becoming obvious to others that he is.  WTH!?!?  Its tiring and a pain in the ass getting them to move on it.   Part of me is angry as they’ve been sitting on this probably hoping I wouldn’t follow up. Part of me is angry for not calling the ARC sooner and asking them to get involved quicker after sending in the paperwork.   Oh well! I’m happy and its happening!!!
