Andrew says I got papers to sign and I look at them….. Procedural Safeguard Notice-Rights for Parents of Children with disabilities and a consent form for the school to bill medicaid  for services….

I’m livid!!!
I’ve been fighting the State that Andrew is disabled and come up with ZERO.
He’s NOT ON MEDICAID b/c according to the STATE he doesn’t have a qualifying disabilty and although I sent in 2 documents showing he has a developmental dyspraxia (aka: Developmental Coordination Disorder) they still have yet to get back to me telling me if that is enough to do it. THey’ve pretty much blamed him being disabled on his father dying…. OK…..whatever.  I can’t learn b/c my father died almost 4 year now. He’s lucky if he remembers his father.  I mean he does but after that????? Come on Oh yeah they blamed ADHD on that too.  Hes only acting out b/c that also… Hmmm maybe a report from his counselor that maybe he’s well adjusted after that to prove that. He’s well adjusted in that category, he’s not depressed, sad, angry , abusive or acts out in anyway.  He’s a very happy go lucky kid that you would never think had to have that happen.  But I guess i’m wrong. He has trouble learning and sitting still. Has trouble with fine motor and gross motor skills and speech…. definately must be his way of showing of  dealing  with his fathers death.  He’s having trouble in school.  He’s not in High School. He has never had stellar abilties. He was labeled student with a disabilty from the first time we had him tested at 3. What do I know…..

Why should I sign the form??? Its not like they can get anything from him.  He’s normal according to the State! Doesn’t matter he gets every service available (PT, OT and Speech)  if they don’t diagnosis him with something that the state agrees  is a disabilty he’s fine.

Bang my head against the walls.

The other one I think we have entered the terrible 2’s.  His abilities far exceed his maturity. He was putting the top on a water bottle and screwing it on.   Physically there’s not much he can’t do that a 2 year can. I called the doctor about his rash. His doctor has been on a hiatus of late but the nurses do all the ground work and report to her.  I told them about the rash and that I thought it was eczema and I thought it was the brownies with possible coconut in them and they called me back later and the message says (no lie) discontinue the brownies.  Are you kidding me….. you really think I would have him eat more if I thought that was the problem??? There was more most of which I know but its more concerning that he had a reaction and next it could be worse than discontining the brownies and adding all this lotion… Oh well.

That is just unbelievable with Andrew! Can they actually do that since that state hasn’t ruled he’s legally disabled? I’m wondering if you should get a lawyer involved? I know of a VERY good one if you decide to go that route. Utterly ridiculous! Huge hugs! M
