The Impossible Love of Bryan (short, short story)
Karoline was impossible to please. Flowers, chocolate, even expensive jewelry could not win her heart. Bryan had wanted her since the eighth grade, and now that his high school career was almost over, he wanted to show Karoline how much he liked her. Love note after love note was inserted into her locker, yet his remained empty. Bryan was getting frustrated. Finally, he decided to take drastic measures. He went up to the P.A. Microphone, heart pounding, fingers shaking, and palms sweating as he clicked the mic into the on position. All was silent in the school. Everything seemed to freeze in time as Bryan took a deep breath. Karoline?!
I LOVE YOU! His voice echoed throughout the school. Then he heard footsteps coming down the hallway. Maybe it was Karoline! Maybe she would finally return his love for her! Maybe she– it was Principal Muerde, red in the face.
BRYAN! To my office
AT ONCE! Bryans heart seemed to sink into the pit of his stomach. He marched slowly behind the principal into his office where Karoline sat! He brightened immediately, but his happiness was cut short when he saw the scowl on Karolines beautiful face and the pile of heart-shaped love notes on the desk.
Bryan was suspended for three days, and Karoline moved to California after issuing Bryan a restraining order. Good thing the large palm tree in the front of Karolines yard was exactly 50 feet away from Karolines new home.
