First Appointments and Memories of Simpler Times

Saturday I had off, we cleaned a little, hung out, and made plans for next Saturday. We went shopping and made homemade taco’s for dinner. They were delicious, although not quite what my tummy needed. I also picked up some Rice Crispies for yummy goodness, and Raisin Bran, for yummy goodness and poop inducing qualities. Next Saturday we are planning to rotatill the front yard, pluck out all the weeds, trim down the hedges, and re-seed the lawn. It looks patchy, and has wild garlic sprouting up. We live in a sub division, and there is an acordiance about lawns, but besides that, who wants a shitty looking lawn? We need to do the backyard too, but it’s a bit trickier with the dogs. They moved all the hay holding the grass seed, so now there’s a nice bare spot.

Sunday Chris mowed the lawn while I was at work, so it scented heavily of minced garlic, I love that smell. Growing up we had a big wild garlic plant in our front yard, next to the flower beds and birds of paradise. We also had these big pecan trees, three I believe. And every season, mom would pay my sister and I a penny each pecan we picked up. It was a good ten dollars. Of course we were young, with no concept of money. We had a big wooden gate that swung into a side yard, to a patio, that was filled with banana trees, and a plastic overhang, It always smelled musty back there. That lead to the backyard, which had a giant and working streetlamp next to one of dad’s 4 sheds. Then there was the greenhouse, which smelled of chemicals and dirt.  Next to the green house was a step up, to a small vegitable garden. To the side of that greenhouse was a playhouse dad built us, when I was 5 or 6. It was a Christmas gift, and it was lifesized. Real door, and wondow, with and stair leading up into our bedroom window, and above that a loft, set with sleeping gear. Beyond those two structures was another side area, where dad kept all his "project" cars that he never finished. An old VW bug, and a dune buggie. There was another gate back there leading to the front yard, but it was rarely used. I’d forgotten about all these things, it’s been 5 years. It makes me homesick, but briefly. Then I remember why I haven’t been back, and I know if that reason wasn’t around, I’d be back in a heartbeat.

Today I’m off again, because I have my first prenatal appointment. I’m not quite sure what they’ll do, since I’ve never had one, and the fact I got myself squeezed in early. 3 months is just too long for me to feel comfortable going without an appointment to check on bumblebee. I’ll update after I get back.

they might take an ultrasound (they took my sister’s first ultrasound at 10 weeks), and tell you what you should avoid in your diet, what you need to make sure you’re eating, and give you a scrip for prenatal vitamins i hope we get to see a pic of bumblebee if you get an US! 🙂

Good luck at your appointment! I always loved going to my prenatal appointments and seeing how my baby was growing and changing 🙂

LOL! I LUB wild garlic. We also had tacos for dinner…go figure! The prenatal appt will just be checking her heartbeat(if she’s old enough), her positioning (tummy pokes) your blood pressure, weight, etc…nothing major. Wait until you go for the US…BRING TISSUE! At my first PN appt, I cried when I heard her heartbeat because of the bleeding and lack of movement

mmmm tacos, rice krispie treats and pecans. I’m jealous lol. Good luck at your appointment!!!!

March 26, 2007

Since you know your due date on conception/LMP they would/should avoid the US unless you WANT one. Sometimes they just take a medical history, sometimes they do a blood draw. Might want to eat a decent meal beforehand just in case 🙂 Have fun!
