They’ve Beckoned Him

Chris is back to work today. He is supposed to work at four, however at 7:30 in the morning the phone is ringing of the hook. They called him in. They wasted no time getting him back. Brandon bugged me non stop for Chris to come back. Now we can finally start saving again, and slowly work our way to an HSG and getting the truck fixed up. I’ve been seriously thinking of getting a credit card. I’m so against them because I don’t like to spend money we don’t own, but at the same time, it would help us get both the HSG and the truck fixed now. Someone convince me about credit cards. I need information. I’m probably going to go through my bank, which is local. But if you could give me the gist of how it works and all the details on that, I would like to be prepared for a discussion with Chris. We tried talking about it before, ubt neither of us knew much about them.

we have a credit card but only because when we lived in germany, we wanted the security of making purchases in europe without feeling responsible if someone stole our information or if a business charged us too much while we were touring. we’ve never ever NOT paid each balance off every month. we dont “charge” things that we cant pay for immediately. we only use it to establish our “credit”. yea.

as long as you only put on the card what you can pay off by the time the balance comes due, then credit cards are super, especially for security reasons (my opinion anyway). and make sure when you go to the bank that you get just the regular credit card with no monthly fee or annual fee and no requirements on how much you spend. with ours, we just have to make 1 purchase a year to keep it fee-free

and that purchase could even be like 5 dollars. lol, i think ours was 20 something. very often i pay the amount we put on the card the instant it shows up on our online statement instead of waiting til the bill comes due. to me then, the card seems more like a debit card, so we dont spend what we dont already have in the bank. oh man sorry for rambling. hope that helped!

The good thing about credit cards is you can build a credit history, which is very impotant if you every need/want to finance something like a mortgage for a house, or need an emergency loan or something! Just make sure you pay it off as fast as you can : )

Go for a secured card, if you can. You can build a great credit rating, but not have to deal with the BS of the huge interest rates and minimum payments

Do you have Money Mart down your way? They offer the best secured card, with the ability to get it in smaller denominations than a bank
