Jeez, it’s been busy as hell, haven’t been around here much. My work schedule is getting switched to a weird off-and-on deal and I don’t know that I like it. I’m on sundays, tuesdays and thursdays now….plus this wednesday for this week. Whee for 72s. Double whee for not knowing I was added on wednesday until just now. Pretty glad I decided to write this entry now because it would’ve been bad to not know I was on. *shakes fist at chief* He’s really bad about not letting people know when things change. S’all good though, I’ve been waiting all day for a call and nothing has come in. Maybe tomorrow. 

Been feeling kinda meh. I think I had an ear infection but my body fought it off. Still kinda there but it’s going away. *Crosses fingers* Had the flu too, which is bleh. I had the flu shot and I don’t usually get sick at all, so double bleh. At least it was mild. And then when I’ve been alone I’ve still been emotionally not too good. It’s somewhat better generally but….man everything still bites. So I’ve spent a lot of my time working and I’ve gotten a lot done. Repaired some of the trimming in the back hall, took care of excess papers and then finally organizing the hellhole of a important-papers drawer, gave the living room a good rundown, going out and buying the things that need buying. All very mundane things, but important things too. I’ve had a few days jumped on me for work too which have weirdly helped a lot. Saturday I got called by my chief and he told me he hadn’t put anyone on with Sheri and asked me to cover and I said alright since I wasn’t doing anything. Then he told me that it was the fireman’s street dance that day and that it’d be nice if I could help out and that sheri would be there. And I was like fuck. You sneaky bastage, this was just a ploy to get me to go out to that. Made me mildly grr at the time but it turned out really nice. I met a bunch of the firefighters I didn’t know and talked some with the ones I did. We were selling brats and hamburgers and I ended up running the money till. Was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it’d be, they’re a good bunch. Dirty jokes went on all day. It got cold at night so I walked back home to get a jacket and brought sheri back one too and scored points with my partner like a boss. Then at the end I stayed after and helped the handful of people cleaning up. Was a pretty great evening all in all. I had a decent amount of fun and I got work done and that made me pretty happy. It was very nom. 

Talked to a new girl in the area too. Got her number and we talked yesterday. Ended up being a pretty long talk, though I didn’t really realize it. Was nice, she likes to read and she does a bit o’ gaming and she kept complaining that the book she was reading was terrible but her friend had loaned them to her so she was trying to get through it. I asked her to read me a bit and she demurred, but eventually she did after I teased her for being shy. And lo, the book she was reading was essentially bad vampire porn. That’s right, first phone call and I got sparkly vampire porn read to me. Beat THAT. xD 

Well, they weren’t sparkly, but still. It was so over the top and terrible you couldn’t help but laugh at it. 

I’ve been reading Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell. Sometimes I donate to goodwill and when I do I pick up a book because they have the goodness. I had pulled out a bunch at random because I had no idea what I wanted and then this big honking hardcover caught my eye. I cracked it, saw a few authors I liked saying good things about it and just bought it without actually reading anything. It just felt right and it was right. ^_____^ I highly suggest, you might like it too. It’s one of those really good ones that you start bracketing and noting in the margins so you can flip back and see the phrases and ideas that caught your fancy earlier. The last book I’ve liked that much was the shadow of the torturer by gene wolf. That’s another really good one I highly suggest. Nom. This year has been a great year for books. 

And for newly discovered music too. Found some of the goodness recently.
