Three and Six

The best and worst parts of my day with a 3 year old and a 6 month old (big, fat tears with both of those ages. HOW did either thing happen?)

6-7am wake up call.  This is okay, IF it’s at 7am. When it’s 6am and we are UP for the day.. it hurts, alot. Anything before 6am is disgusting, if you ask me.  All a part of parenting though, right? Yuck.  These wake up calls can range from yelling/talking/screaming "MOM/Dad’s" from Cooper’s room, or screams from Avery’s room.  Sometimes, if we are lucky it smiling faces at 7am. Those are super. Sometimes, Coop just crawls into bed with us and requests Cartoooooooons.

725am when Brandon works. I get to shower @ this time (later usually if it’s a weekend). I LOVE my shower. It’s important to my functionality during the day and Brandon has learned this and makes sure I get ‘er done.

9am is nap time for Miss Avery. Also dish-doing-time for Mommy.. Cooper generally plays cars/trains during this time and is blissful and plays SO well by himself.  Who knew this part would be a best part of my day? Doing the freaking dishes? WTF?

10-12 is also a good time. Coffee, playing with both kids, and no chores. Sometimes, if I am especially lucky I get to fold laundry while driving cars, but usually it’s just play. It’s nice.

Lunch is usually hectic, and rushed.. It doesn’t seem to matter how soon I start it I am always eating one handed and maybe, just maybe it’s warm.  Usually cold though.  I know this is just a matter of time though, naps are pending at this time so we eat as fast as we can and then OFF TO BED!

1pm-4pm — Nap time is great. I get to tidy up, start laundry, sweep the floors (mop them, if I am feeling especially frisky), and do as much supper prep as humanly possible– if I can cook it @ nap time, I will.

Avery’s nap is still sporadic, waking up with every sleep cycle(45minute intervals :S) She does however, go back to sleep and usually sleeps around 3 hours total and Cooper is now at the 2 hour mark for naps.. Once he is down, he is DOWN.

Sometimes, if supper is low key or the mess isn’t too great I get to read AND/OR nap during nap time. Sometimes, I throw responsibility to the wind and I just read and nap for FUN. Scandalous. Really.  Sometimes mommy sanity is THAT important.

After nap is usually some tv time for Coop.. One hour of tv to wake up and have a snack and then it’s play time.  Usually mommy has to cook though.. So Avery gets to jump, or dance in the exersaucer or just whine away while I cook. Whichever she so desires, I DO like to cook without whining though, it makes things that much more enjoyable. I really do like to cook, really.

530pm– I, like a good housewife have the supper promptly on the table for my husband– and he shows up 15-20 minutes late every.time. Thus is life, and you would think I would learn right? Nah.  It’s not his fault though, he closes the store @ 530 and people are always coming in late. Jerky customers!
630pm Unfortunately, right after supper and a quick clean up– and play, bedtime routine starts.  For Avery first, she is usually in bed and asleep by 7pm if all things go right.. If baths go long sometimes it’s a bit later but I do pride myself that with this child I can lay her down AWAKE and pass out quickly after.. Most of the time.. You know, if she knows I have plans (with the tv, usually) she can be a pain in my bum– it’s expected now though. She is too cute to resist!

Cooper’s bedtime is mostly done with Daddy now, quite the turn around from a year ago.  They start somewhere between 7-730pm and it can take anywhere from 30minutes to an hour.  Cooper likes to have to go poop shortly after he is in bed– newest stalling technique, quite brilliant if you ask me, you can’t argue with it!

At this time, 7-8pm I try to clean up.  I cannot handle toys strewn about.  Once that is done, I may work out on the wii, or I may crack a beer(haha, jokes– unless it’s an unruly Friday night!).  It clearly depends upon the type of day I have had.

Any hour between 8pm-6am is fair game. It’s usually, of course Miss Avery that I see throughout the night, because we have been blessed with non-sleepers.  Sometimes it’s twice a night (1am, 430am) Sometimes it’s just 2am (love that) and this one time, 2 weeks ago SHE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! Oh.Em.Gee.

As parents we all seem to relish in nap/quiet/bed time. This is NOT because we don’t love our children, this is because we need time to recharge and that doesn’t usually happen with children awake and touching you. Needing you.  I find I miss them quickly after though, and most of our conversation come back to them in some way.

This was the written version of my daily life. I should *try* to do a picture version. Bahaha. Like that’s going to happen!

Love, Me
