Update Time!

So work is going well. I’m being sent to Miwaukee again in November. I’m fully prepared to die a little on that trip given my lack of experience with ‘real’ winters. I’ll consider it preparation for spending my first Christmas up north. I’ve been a bit stressed out of late what with coworkers being out of town or out on sick leave, but I’ve managed to survive. The woman I was going to be backing up while she recovered from back surgery returned part time today, and the woman I spend most of my work time interacting with will be returning to the office tomorrow.

I would like to interrupt this update with a random fact. I only just now noticed that apparently my cat got me with claws when he batted my wrist a few minutes ago. Didn’t notice until it started stinging, and I look down to see blood. I guess my cat related pain tolerance has gone up significantly. Go me!

Back to life updates…The State Fair of Texas is in full swing once again. The top fried foods of the year are Chicken Fried Bacon (it was alright…I think mine was overcooked), and the Deep Fried Banana Split (I haven’t tried that yet, but I’m going back next week). Also on the list of fried oddities are Texas Fried Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, Deep Fried Chocolate Truffles, Deep Fried Apple iPies, Deep Fried Lattes, and Chocolate Covered Strawberry Waffle Balls. There are, of course, many more fried foods than that, but I can’t begin to list them all. I enjoyed my trip to the fair with my parents and boyfriend on Sunday, but I’m definitely looking forward to going back next Sunday with my roommate and friends who will be in town from Tyler. I’ll probably actually hit the Midway with them. I haven’t ridden rides in far too long.

I also went to a pre-season hockey game last night. Stupid Oilers beat my Stars, and I managed to miss the one fight of the game (stupid roommate was hungry), but it was plenty fun. I got the tickets for free through a competition at work. I say this as if I actually won the tickets. In truth, not enough people participated, and they ended up with extra tickets left. I’d expressed an interest in going, so I got the tickets with little effort at all. Yay me.

So…I left for dinner and Halloween costume shopping and have come back (I’ll be a witch’s familiar for Halloween…and Lauren will be the witch). I’ll leave you now with a piece of what makes living in my apartment so funny…and so inappropriate. We have invented a language…called Japabrew. Mech ha a la ben ween ha o shech Halloween. *dies laughing* I know it’s only funny to me and my roommate, but this is why we work well together.

Cheers folks!

PS…They’re making a new Star Trek movie???

It still amazes me the amount of foods people will deep fat fry and then eat.. It seems odd to me but on the other hand I love cheese curds. YUM! oh roommates, they can be so much fun… or a pain in the ass.

The thought of all those fried foods is enough to make me want to be sick. And of COURSE they’re making a new Star Trek. Spock will be played by Zachary Quinto, better known as Sylar on Heroes. And you’ve dealt with ice storms in Texas. I’ll take the snow over the ice any day. -Mike

Wisconsin winters aren’t bad if you’re used to Chicago winters, but when you’re from Texas… yeah… I wish you luck. *hugs* Cats help up your pain tolerance… just one more reason to own a pet? glad to see you’re managing to enjoy yourself otherwise!
