Tubby Smith Should be Fired

OK, so Kentucky loses yet again, and yet again has reached 9 losses in a season. My big question here is why are there still UK fans that refuse to see the obvious? Tubby Smith is not the man for the job. There are fans that like to blame the players for each and every loss, yet when they win they give credit to both Tubby and the players… That seems a bit one sided to me. Tell me if it’s the players fault for losing all the time, then why are there even head coaches in the sport? What are the coaches even there for then, moral support…? NO, coaches are there to mold a group of 10-11 players into a team that can play team ball and that can win. That is what coaches do. I can admit that it is the players fault for being sloppy and being ball hogs, however that can also just as easily be blamed on the coaching because a coach should be able to break a player of his ball hoggish tendencies.
So with UK now at 19-9 on the season and two games left before the SEC tournament I see another double digit losing season for Tubby Smith. With Georgia coming up at Rupp, of whom which we already lost to this season, and then lastly Florida at Florida of whom which we have also already lost to this season, I don’t see UK getting to 20 wins during the regular season. In fact I see UK losing both of their last two games and then losing in the first round of the SEC tournament. That would make UK 19-12 and if UK can make the NCAA tournament with a record like that then something is wrong with the college basketball tournament selection system. But then maybe UK won’t make the tourney with that kind of record but make the NIT. Well I am sorry but the NIT is not, I repeat NOT good enough for a UK basketball team. That is embarrassing for the team with the most wins of all time.
I am telling you, Tubby Smith needs to be fired and Mitch Barhardt needs to bring in a high caliber coach with the likes of a Billy Donovan or Bob Knight or even coach K. UK is too good for Tubby and he needs to move on. Ten seasons is plenty enough. Hell at this point I would gladly take Pitino back, gladly. At least Pitino has his Cardinals ranked and on a winning streak. I just wish people would see what I see here and I know many other UK fans see but won’t openly say. Well I am not afraid to say it, Tubby sucks.
When you have a team with as much talent and potential that UK has and you still lose as many games as we lose every year now with Tubby then something is seriously wrong. I mean how can you have 3 McDonalds All-Americans, Ramel Bradley, Ravi Moss and Patrick Sparks and not make the Final Four? I’ll tell you why, terrible coaching, lack of conditioning and lack of discipline all resulting from lack of coaching. I don’t know what else needs to be said…
