The Politics of Spring
The Politics of Spring
Ahhhhhhhhh, a taste of things to come here in Chitown. We actually hit 70 º here on monday. We broke a record come to think of it, we hit 73º and that is 1º higher than previous!
The funny thing about that is a week before it happened, we were -10º to -15º cooler than we should have been, but here at work I would go out in the morning to hear the mating calls of Red Winged Black Birds, which are summer birds here in the tundra, and the proud trill of the mating call of male Cardinals. I would hear the Red Tailed Hawks at home circling on the few thermals that could be found and calling out with their shrill attention grabbing shreik.
I notied the frogs, which I did not expect for at least 3 more weeks when the temps are more stable were also out croaking away looking for females. I guess the ground is not as frozen as it normally is this time of year?
Even the trees are getting in on the act! The pollen counts have been very high lately, and I hvae the allergies to attest to it! If you don’t believe me, I promise to sneeze on you!
It seems to me, the birds and bees and trees and frogs are behaving like politicians in March. "Here I am, here! Vote for me! Elect me to your office!" they seem to shout out to the others of their ilk. Just hoping that they will garner enough votes to be promoted to the office to which they aspire. Even if that office is merely the next nest over, the choicest spot for the tadpoles or even the showiest flowers for the best fruit. They shout loudly, they shout often, they talk over each other and what they have to say is incomprehensible. If you break it up into base meaning nothing is ever really said. There are no firm opinions other than the desire to screw someone, somewhere, somehow
Should I try to get you pics of the rare Eastern Bluebirds that breed near me?
Pick one:
A.) Yes
B.) No
C.) Get real you tree hugging, nature loving, freaky geek!
