Passion

I guess this entry name could sound dirty. But if you’re one of the millions of people touched by the movie "The Passion of The Christ", you’ll know it has nothing to do with the worldly view of passion. What is passion anyway?

  1. A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger.
    1. Ardent love.
    2. Strong sexual desire; lust.
    3. The object of such love or desire.
    1. Boundless enthusiasm: His skills as a player don’t quite match his passion for the game.
    2. The object of such enthusiasm: Soccer is her passion.
  2. An abandoned display of emotion, especially of anger: He’s been known to fly into a passion without warning.
  3. Passion
    1. The sufferings of Jesus in the period following the Last Supper and including the Crucifixion, as related in the New Testament.
    2. A narrative, musical setting, or pictorial representation of Jesus’s sufferings.
  4. Archaic. Martyrdom.
  5. Archaic. Passivity.

So yeah. There are mixed meanings and such. But I think that It pretty much describes it. Number 5 mostly. Now, you want to know where I got the definitions? http://www.dictionary.com This is a world wide site. And do you see on number 5 where that part is in bold? Go to dictionary.com and look up passion, and you’ll see that I didn’t do that. It wasn’t me that bolded it. The Passion of the Christ was just that. It was number five at dictionary.com’s explanation of "passion": The sufferings of Jesus in the period following the Last Supper and including the Crucifixion, as related in the New Testament. And you know, it was immense. I didn’t write about it earlier, and part of that is because I think that it deserves it’s own entry. I really do. This movie was brilliant. Let’s say that I wasn’t Christian and thought that the entire thing was just.. a story. I would STILL be touched, regardless of whether I did or didn’t know that I was the reason that happened. Ryan said to me in the car afterwards that it was amazing the effect it had on people. All people. Not just Christians. Everyone. I don’t think there was a dry eye in that theatre.

So the movie was really well done, to say the least. Man. It was not rated R for nothing. I seriously couldn’t look at all of it. **shakes head** It was so brutal. Gosh. I just.. wow. You know, everyone was like "bring tissues" and I said "What? Am I going to cry? I don’t want to cry…" And they were like "Oh you’re going to cry". And I guess I believed them. But I really didn’t want to. I don’t like crying in front of people, I try not to. And I don’t like crying at movies. But you know something? There is something that makes it okay. What is it? It’s the fact that, it’s not just a movie. It’s not bambi, or something dumb and make believe. It’s not. That truly happened. And it truly happened for us.

Good movie. I recommend it. Bring tissues.

thanks for agreeing with me about danny. Anyway, I have been reading movie reviews at rottentomatoes.com and most of them said the movie was pretty violent and brutual but I guess it does make a point and emphasizes the true suffering Jesus did so it serves sort of a purpose but I’m not sure I could watch it though. take care.

Probably it is bold to emphasize that, in that sense, the word should be capitalized.
