so you think you can dance…

so I’m watching so you think you can dance, and since it’s just a rerun so far of last weeks, I decided to go look up videos of the "west coast swing" allison and ivan did last week (I missed it.)  I feel the need to clear some things up.

THAT WAS SO NOT WEST COAST SWING!!!  Ok, it was a bad rendition of it in any case.  For one thing, she was swivelling the whole time and swivels are NOT a west coast swing thing, they’re a lindy hop thing.  Also someone, somewhere made a comment about why did they do swing to pat benetar when there’s a whole bunch of newer "swing" music they could have used?  SIMPLE!  Now, try and wrap your head around this, but, west coast swing is NOT done to swing music!  I know.

Got it?  I highly recomend everyone go out and find swing dance lessons wherever they are.  But ya know, I’m swing dancer completely so I’m a bit biased :?)
