Where is everyone getting these gel pens?!

Alright, first week of classes are out of the way.

The thing with Elise? I dunno. I accepted her request and then heard nothing from her. I guess maybe she was just curious. It’s not really hurting anything to just leave her as a friend, so I’ll just do that. I think I was just a little anxious about it because I got the friend request while I was at work and then on the sales floor I saw this girl who looked a lot like Elise. I skillfully avoided the guest only to be stopped by her later to answer a question. I actually saw this same girl two days later while I was grocery shopping. Oh joy, because a doppelganger of my ex is exactly what I wanted.

My classes are alright, I supposed. There’s going to be a lot of work, but I actually think things might be okay. The business school is notorious for making students do group projects in every class and it’s always a pain for me because I’m so awkward! I can’t remember if I wrote about this when I returned from my lengthy hiatus, but I actually met a girl, Jazmin, in my market research class last semester who hates group projects for all the same reasons I do. We actually bonded over it a little when she explicitly said, "I hate people." I realize this sounds very negative, but really we just have an understanding and she’s really nice and we get along pretty well. Anyway, she’s in two of my classes this semester and then we’re both have a same third class but at different times. It feels ridiculously awesome after three years of not knowing anyone to walk into a class and have someone to sit with. In our Advertising and Promotion class today were broken up into teams based on where we were sitting. Jazmin and I purposely sat together and we think the teacher may have tried to separate us, but we feigned ignorance. I actually had another small moment of triumph in that class. One of the guys in the group, Zach, was also in my group for marketing research last semester. I never actually introduced myself to the group today, Zach did it for me! Haha it was a little weird, but I was thrilled to have someone enthusiastic about knowing me. =)

My other business classes seem alright. I’m taking Advertising & Promotion, Pricing & Channels of Distribution, Product Strategy, Critical Leadership Skills (a management course), Survey Methods, and Families & Society.

My professor for the management course SOUNDS LIKE TRUMAN CAPOTE. I am utterly incapable of sitting through his class without laughing to myself the entire time. Okay, so really his voice isn’t as squeaky, but he has the same…I dunno, tone?? How do you describe that voice?

Survey Methods seems like fun. It’s basically the sociological version of my marketing research class. We’ll just be designing a survey as a class and analyzing data. That’s legitimately the kind of shit that I adore.

On a side note, Mollie is taking Business Stats for her September class and I just about peed myself in excitement. I basically did her first assignment for her. I couldn’t help it. She had answered everything incorrectly and I love spouting out interpretations.

I’m really excited for Families & Society! I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the professor. She’s a spectacular mix of liberal feminist and soccer mom who really knows what she’s talking about.

On Tuesday I drove up to Fort Collins to hang out with Arianna. She’s looking after the house and the dogs while my parental units are in Minnesota. I believe they come back tomorrow sometime, though. Anyway, we went out to this Greek place, had delicious pitas and sangrias, and then headed to the Mayor of Old Town. It was actually pretty early when we decided to just leave and call it a night. We headed back home and fell asleep watching Scooby Doo. I think it would be fun if she and I could live together next year because she plans on going to grad school at CSU and even if I don’t go to UNC I still want to move back up North, but that would mean I’d have to come out to her. I know I can trust Arianna, but it’s still scary to think of telling family (who isn’t Mollie).

Tomorrow is the Rocky Mountain Showdown (CU vs. CSU). While I think it would be more fun for the game to be played on a school field, I’m kind of glad there won’t be crazy traffic clogging up the town.

On Sunday, President Obama is coming to speak on campus and Gena and I got tickets! Arianna first alerted me when she went to see him speak on the Tuesday that I visited her (fun story: they closed down an entire road to get him out of town the next morning and I was unable to get out of my neighborhood the easy way). Then when I came back, Gena told me that he was speaking to our school on Sunday, so we went and snatched up some tickets. If Arianna’s report is anything to go by, it won’t be much of a speech, but I’m still excited to see him.

I was feeling sassy confident on Thursday. I adore this dress. It has black buttons down the back.

Lovely dress! It’s sort of retro, in a way.
