Out of shape

I went running around the track at the rec center yesterday. My lungs did fine, but my foot started to hurt about 20 minutes in and today my hip joints felt like grating boulders. So, of course, I worked for 8.5 hours today- standing most of the time. I’m happy that I didn’t have an asthma attack, though. In the past, when I haven’t worked out for awhile it always takes me time to get my lungs stronger again. This time, however, it looks like I need to work my legs a little bit. I’d love to be able to run in the Bolder Boulder this year! In 2010 I didn’t do running at all and last year I was working.

I really, really love being able to run. I could never do it all through elementary and high school. I was always one of the last kids to finish the mile. But really I love it because its something that makes me feel good and I love that that’s a healthy thought. When I was at the worst place in my eating disorder I tried jogging, but like I said, my asthma was just too severe. Now, however, I don’t run to burn calories, I run to get that awesome rush of endorphins and to have a healthy body. It’s also just really cool that I can do physical activity at all since I quit using asthma meds altogether.

I work seven hours tomorrow. I’ll be missing the Oscars, but I’ve hooked up my cable to a vcr and I’m going to have Hannah record it for me. It was such an effort to get everything! I had to go buy a coax cable and then there were no more vhs tapes at Target, so I had to drive to Superior to get some from the Walmart there (it was past 9pm and there is no walmart in Boulder). While I was at walmart, I asked the guy in the electronics department if they sold AM antennas. He looked at me like I was speaking another language. Seriously? I’m aware that AM radio is passe, but it just so happens that my two favorite stations transmit on those frequencies. I lost the one that came with my stereo sometime during my move from foco to Boulder a couple years ago. Actually, I probably lost it before then. Oh well.

I noticed that Meghan came into my room the other day while I was gone. I hate when she does that. She took my nail polish out to use before going out. I think it’s fine if I let her use it when I’m using it, too, but I never intended for that to be an invitation to go through my things. She probably noticed that I’ve been holding out on her liquor-wise. I have a bunch of stuff to make various cocktails just sitting in a corner of my room, but I’ve only told her that we have Bailey’s and vodka. Every time she drinks, Meghan either drinks WAY too much or she wastes perfectly good alcohol by only drinking half of one drink before moving on to another. If you’re not going to drink that $3 beer, please let me have the rest omg.

I’ve been trying to walk more. I’ve had heel spurs since late last summer and that’s hampered my walking but I’ve been forcing myself. I held up better than I expected today, I probably put in over a mile going in and the same distance coming back out and I was carrying about ten pounds of stuff in my bag too. RYN: I’m sure I’ll post a selection of photos. I took about 280 today so it’s taking a while to upload.

How did you get off your asthma meds? I was always way in last place too when I was younger, but I had no idea I had asthma. Looking back, that probably had a lot to do with it. It kind of sucks that the doctors had no clue I had asthma until I was 26… but I’m also kind of glad it wasn’t something that hindered me when I was young. I just assumed I was naturally bad at sports. There might be some super ghetto way to make an AM antenna with wire.
