his eyes seemed glued to the ceiling.
tossing and turning, he lay in the dark repeating to himself… “stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid…” it was well after 2am, and he couldn’t fall asleep. the whole evening kept playing over and over in his head. it was so wonderful… great… magical. and he still couldn’t tell her. oh well… there’s always tomorrow?
getting out of bed, he went out to the kitchen and poured a glass of water. as he lifted it to his lips and the cold liquid began pouring down his throat he heard a creak behind him and he quickly turned, gulping mouth full of water in surprise.
“i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to startle you!” a look of concern covering his face and he coughed and sputtered from the water.”
“no… no… *cough* not at all.” laughing, he leaned against the counter top, “don’t worry about it.” he said as a smile crossed her face. “is something wrong? bed not comfortable?”
“no… i… i just can’t sleep.” she smiled shyly. laughing he walked over and gave her a big hug.
“nightmares?” he said, looking down at her quizzingly?
“no… just… thinking.” she smiled back up at him.
“okay.” he smiled and took her hand. “we should get to bed. got stuffs to do tomottow!” he said with a goofy grin. she laughed and squeezed his hand softly.
“okay…” she said with a girlish tone. she squeezed his hand again, and he gazed into her eyes and slowly raised the hand to his lips, kissing it sofly.
“good night, ma belle madamoiselle.” he said as they parted once more for bed.
he climbed into bed once more and continued staring at the ceiling…
