Reading List 2006
January
1.Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot by Al Franken
I love this book, the political commentary is witty.
2.Secret Lives of Bee’s by Sue Monk Kidd
Good read, not quite my style.
3.Mr. Commitement by Mike Gayle
Funny perspective on men…I learned a lot!
4.The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield
At the time I was AMAZED by its words. I’m back to being a skeptic.
5.The Tenth Insight by James Redfield
Terrible book, written as fact with impossible theories.
6.Diary of an American Au Pair by Marjorie Leet Ford
Hilarious! Made me grateful for my situation, abrupt ending.
February
7.Cocktails for Three by Madeleine Wickham
Very easy read, cute book about British women.
8.A Time to Kill by John Grisham
My very first John Grisham novel, and I am hooked! The most beautiful story of justice I have ever read.
9.Falling Angels by Tracey Chevalier
This book never picked up, I had to drag through it! By the same author as Girl With a Pearl Earring, based on that movie she must drag every story out.
10.The Last Juror by John Grisham
Novel two from Clanton, Mississippi, but I didn’t love the characters nearly as much.
11.Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger
First time I’ve finished the book, attempted multiple times…
I just don’t get the ‘magic’ behind it. I find Holden to be annoying.
12.The Street Lawyer by John Grisham
This book along with todays episode of CSI:Las Vegas inspire me to help the homeless. It’s such a terrible tragedy.
March
13.The Client by John Grisham
I loved the mob element, crime novels are my passion.
14.The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
The most talked about book of recent years…A good complicated thriller. I was really rooting for the characters.
15.Deception Point by Dan Brown
Another captivating thriller, very surprise twist! I’m now hooked on him!
16.The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood
Cute novel about letting go of the past and living for your own happiness. Easy read.
17.The Partner by John Grisham
I loved every bit of this book, except the last chapter. It broke my heart to see the lead so unhappy.
18.The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason
CRAP! A terrible Da Vinci Code knock off. With no adventure, just a bunch of college students running around Princeton with no real dangers. I kept thinking it would get better, but I hated it.
19.The King of Torts by John Grisham
I was always angry at the main character. He was so greedy and stupid. I like that the greedy characters in Grishams books always get a dose of karma.
April
20.The Broker by John Grisham
Awesome book, happy ending, solid characters.
21.The Murderbook by Johnathan Kellerman
Great murder suspence novel with many plot twists. I was ALWAYS trying to guess who did it.
22.A Painted House by John Grisham
Not his typical style, but great book with a new perspective. I loved the characters. Except the Spruills, I hated them.
23.The Innocent by Harlan Coben
Amazing books with deception and fake identities. Surprising antagonist.
24.The Summons by John Grisham
This book made me really angry. I see his theme of greedy people loosing lots of money, but the character wasn’t greedy, just lost. I wish Patton French would loose all his money.
25.One False Move by Harlan Coben
Crappy but well deserved ending.
26.Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
Supposedly takes place over 22 years, but the time lapse is very difficult to percieve. Nice layout and themes.
27.The Bretheren by John Grisham
It takes a while for the characters to all tie in…you close it not loving or hating anyone.
28.Digital Fortress by Dan Brown
This book was about ‘cryptographers’ in the NSA…but there was only one code in the whole book, and it occured during the last five chapters. I also guessed the culpit immediatly because it was the same as Deception Point. But I did read the whole novel in one night.
May
29.The Forgotten by Faye Kellerman
It was okay…crap ending.
30.The Testament by John Grisham
This book took forever to read! I guess that is the only problem with living at home. Too busy to read! It was so good, the best ending when regarding millions.
June
31.The Rainmaker by John Grisham
Awesome book. It was a Grisham so I loved it.
32.Cut and Run by Ridley Pearson
Pretty good book, some of the credibility was off. As far as different govt. jurisdictions.
33.The Pelican Brief by John Grisham
would have been 100% better if thomas hadn’t died. i hate that she runs off with gray grantham. and it would have been nice if the brief was explained earlier, and they explained the dubious men following her a little bit better.
34.In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner
This book was so good I am scared to see the movie.
35.The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Amazing autobiography, great perspecitve on poverty and the choices we make.
36.Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

Slightly similiar to The Innocent….good twist….never knew how it was going to end.

Nice list. I have read #2, 14, 15, 21, 25, 26, 36, 37, 39, 40, and 42. I agree that Angels and Demons was the best of the four Dan Brown’s.
