A Walk Down Memory Lane
I was just sitting here and getting up and wandering then sitting again thinking of my kids when they were little and some of the things they did. Memories can be awesomely satisfying and funny and they can also be bad. We all take the good with the bad, and I can say I eventually learned how to deal with the bad. Now on to some of the memories and facts….
Krystal Denise my oldest is now 32 years old and has 2 children of her own. Jeffrey Kenneth now 8 years old. Kaylie Diane now 6 years old. Funny how when we become parents things our own parents told us weren’t so wrong. She is married to Jeff , he is a pastor in a small church. They have been married 9 years. I can remember one time when Krystal was about 1 1/2 years old she decided she was going to get up and make me a cake. I got up when I heard something in the other room and she had a bowl with flour in it (mainly the flour was on her, the cabinet and the floor), some WHOLE eggs, milk and oil. She was busy trying to get it all stirred up when I came into the kitchen. She even had the pan out and ready. Krystal was born weighing 3 lbs and went down to 2 lbs 5 oz. really fast before she finally started on an uphill battle. I brought her home when she weighed 4 lbs and 6 oz. In a picture I have of her she is leaning against the upper part of my arm her head at the top of my shoulders and her feet barely coming to my elbow. She had to drink an ounce of milk every hour when I first brought her home. It was so exhausting. As she grew a bit older she began to get these bumps all over her body. The bottom of her feet, her arms, legs everywhere. I took her to every Dr. in the town where we lived and they kept telling me she was getting bug bit. I had my house sprayed many times and NEVER saw bugs. I finally took her to the last Dr, in town and he took one look at her and said this child has kidney problems. Now why did no one else figure that out?? She was taken to Oklahoma City where they removed her almost all of her left kidney, reconstructed her ureters and bladder at the age of 2. She has had many surgeries through the years on her ureters and bladder but it all seemingly has worked out now. She was a good student in school and is a great Mom. She now has moved 2 1/2 hrs away from me and I miss her alot.
My middle daughter Brandi Michelle is 27 years old (28 in Nov.). She has 2 children Caleb Quinn who is 8 years old and Arianna Renee’ who is 4. They live in Wyoming now. They are suppose to move to North Carolina soon. She said they will stop by here for a bit to see me so I can see the kids. They won’t be staying long though since they have horses, dogs and stuff that will be traveling with them. She lives with her dad and his girlfriend. If you haven’t read previously Brandi has been in trouble but trying to get her life straightened out. It is my prayer that she is and will be a good Mom to her children. Brandi went to live with her dad at the age of 7 after I took her to Childrens Hospital for 2 years. She would hit me, bite me, kick me, swing belt buckles at me and slash my face with them (I have the pics). They told me at the hospital that I had to let her go live with her dad if I expected to live. I think that was ONE of the hardest things I have ever had to endure. The daily beatings by her dad were not near as hard as her leaving. She still even after her son was born would come to my house and beat me up and I would have to call the police on her. She now tells me she has changed (I haven’t seen her since the day after she was put in jail) and she loves me and she is sorry. Her life has been hard I know. Praying she has learned her lesson and will be a better woman for it.
Brandi was burned when she was 5 years old by a pan of boiling tea that her older sister was taking off the stove. I had left to take Kimber (her sister) to my mother-in-laws since I worked. I had a call when I got there to come home immediately. As I drove the 20 minutes back home I saw my oldest walking down the dirt road to catch the bus for school crying. I put her in the car and asked what was wrong and all she could tell me was she didn’t mean to. When I got to the house Brandi was wrapped in a white sheet and my ex put her in the car stating she was burned. I rushed her to the hospital about 30 minutes away where they took her by ambulance to the burn center. She endured the skin grafts, burned skin debridements, and baths like a trooper. Her upper arm, chest, and leg was burned. She had a sweatshirt on it was cold out and when the boiling tea hit her she rubbed at it which made the upper part of her arm be worse than the rest. She had to where an arm prosthtic sleeve to help it heal smoothly. She hated it because it was so hot to her. She healed from that without much incident.
My youngest daughter Kimber LaDonne is 23 and will be 24 in July. She also has 2 children Alyssa Nicole who is 3 years old and Michael Aiden who is 1 year old. They live in California with Kimber’s husband Michael. They have been married for 5 years. Kimber was just here visiting me and we had a wonderful time. I can remember a few more things about Kimber than I can the other 2. I can remember when she was just little maybe 3, I was tucking her into bed and saying her prayers with her. I was trying to get her bed fixed and she kept saying ."Momma, Momma" and trying to tell me to fix different areas of the bed. I said," Kimber just a minute give me a chance!" She got quiet until I finished what I was doing and turned to her and she said,"Here Mom". (holding a clinched fist toward me) I asked her what it was and in a cute tender voice she said, "Its your chance Momma!" I laughed and hugged her and took my chance from her.
A funny story about when she was older (We still laugh at this today) she called me at my Moms house and said I needed to hurry home because there was a snake in the kitchen. I asked her how big it was in which she replied it was BIG! I asked her if she could throw a pot over it until I got there, and she said ok. I hurried home and was wondering if I should call animal control since I am AFRAID of snakes. I thought no I will get the broom and stand in the chair and look at it first. I took the broom handle and flipped the pot over. I am so GLAD I did not call animal control as her snake wasan EARTH WORM!!….LOL
I homeschooled Kimber from the 6th grade through all of High School. She took supplemental medical classes and rotations at hospitals, Physical Therapists, and Pharmacy’s. Some of the classes she took would transfer to college credits for her. I was so proud of her as she made straight A’s at home as well as the college courses she took. I am still proud of her even though she didn’t go to college but married and then became a WONDERFUL Mom to her 2 beautiful children. Maybe one day she will go back to school if she can.
Thinking this is probably way long for anyone to read it all…lol
Hugs to all and have a GREAT WEEKEND!
I will write more in another entry later.
what great memories. I hope the visit with Brandi goes well.

I enjoyed reading about your life in more detail. I’ve picked up a lot of facts over the years about your daughters’ but wasn’t sure about their ages and the names of their children. I hope that Brandi does stay on the straight and narrow now. It sounds as though she had something wrong with her when she was a little girl to be so violent. It must have been awful for you.
