Days 69 70 home sweet home ***

…well just to cap off day 68, I strolled over to a nearby shopping mall, and besides grabbing a coffee in Starbucks, I found a fantastic art shop which I took my time to look around. Interesting that there was no one else in the shop, apart from the owner, the whole time I was there. And yet the mall was thronged with Sunday shoppers.

I gleaned some good ideas for my own artwork, and had a lovely conversation with the owner, who had been in Europe this year at the same time as me. If I didn’t have to lug it back to NZ, I would definitely have bought something. I collected my bags around 3 and set off for the half hour walk to the airport. No probs. my last meal in the States was a yummy turkey panini, or tacchino. I checked my bags in at 6 and spent the last couple of hours in a cafe enjoying the views of the busy airport, and another mocha and tira misu…

69 flight was through the night…..

70 we crossed the international date line, in fact we went…Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Monday, Tuesday…. Bizarre. See if you can work that one out!

It wasn’t a good flight for me. Couldn’t sleep much, but was confined to that small uncomfortable seat. Glad to get grounded in Auckland, quickly through customs, immigration, baggage claim and straight onto the downtown bus. Met Kerry at the ferry terminal, travelled together to Waiheke and we were joined by Soni and Sara for brunch at Wai Kitchen. Yummy eggs benny.

Saw a few people in Oneroa, Soni gave me a lift home via the supermarket.

OK that’s it folks….til the next time. Thanks for coming along on this ride around the globe…it’s been fun!!,

Glad you’re home safe and sound! A wonderful trip – I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and feel privileged to have been able to ‘accompany you’ – and am not in the least jet-lagged!

It must be good to be home after such a long trip. The Kiwis are still racing, high winds stopped them yesterday…

September 18, 2013

It’s been an awful lot of fun. Welcome home indeed.

September 18, 2013

Seems like the way home from a trip usually includes a stop at the supermarket. I’m glad you are home safely.

September 18, 2013

Welcome home. Rest up!

September 18, 2013

Glad to hear that you’re safely home.

September 19, 2013

Feels so weird to be home after so long away I imagine. Welcome home. I look forward to reading about your next adventures!

September 20, 2013

thank you. I had two good friends I talked to today on the phone who assured me many times that none of this has to do with me and I dont deserve it and to somehow keep reminding myself of that when I’m tempted to think otherwise. such support and notes on here are what is getting me through today. thank you, my friend. we did get in to the marriage help retreat this weekend, K textedme to let me know. so we’ll see if they can help us.

Great news! Bet you slept long and hard. I’d have the worst case of jet lag. 🙂

Yes bummer about the result, the Kiwis were so close. But it looks like the Oracle team kept improving their boat perhaps, I hope it was not another form of cheating.. I understand the dollar will go down in the future so who knows what that does to your travel plans 🙂 Take care

Thanks for your note! A few years ago I fulfilled a (nearly) lifelong dream and traveled to Liverpool too — it was wonderful! The Beatles museum, the bus tour, seeing their childhood homes, being in The Cavern — I love hearing from other people who have shared that experience. Thanks for adding me.

September 28, 2013

Thank you for taking us with you! Glad you’re home safe and sound. xx

ryn: It’s good to catch it as a child and most ppl do. NOW just seems a bit … harsh? =)

October 1, 2013

Bad luck with the Americans Cup, I wanted NZ to win, I was quite surprised at the American crew, Oz captain and a Brit to sort out the tactics; New Zealand takes on the world! Hope you catch up with your missed sleep.
