pics … Berlin
Well winter has come to Berlin. I dont believe its 17 degrees as per the weather site. With a howling wind it feels near to freezing! Still in shorts though!
Time for some pics… this first one shows the quirky pipes in many places around the city- they carry water away from building sites due to a very high water level – and there is a lot of building work going on here. I counted 9 high cranes this morning from 1 point alone.
But anyway its the architecture that I really want to show you.
I took a tour of the Berlin Dome. Right up inside that central dome. Awesome. An organist was playing. I now love exploring the insides of cathedrals and old churches.
This is the dome ceiling…
This is the Reichstag…parliament, where Herr Hitler planned the whole second world war strategies, including the holocaust.
In the background can be seen the Television Tower, which is near to the hostel.
this is Altes Museum at Lustgarten. Unfortunately it was closed today.
Now the Brandenberg Gate. There are a lot of memorials around here, to the second world war victims, soldiers and holocaust victims. there seems to be quite a spirit of reconciliation, at least from my tourist perspective.
Street entertainers were fantastic. Also its a good site for political protests. There was a big hunger strike there today about an oppressed minority in Iran.
ok better get off here and let someone else use this computer. My IPad is playing up. Cant seem to get connected here although it was ok yesterday. So im off to Starbucks to see if it works there..
Ciao— or auf weider zane…
Nice photos! Realized that I took no photos when you were here. Grr Should have! It’s cold here too. Rain jackets and warm sweater weather! 🙂

This is the year that the copyright on Mein Kampf expires. It will be interesting to see what happens with that.

I don’t see pictures of Berlin very often. Thank you.

That is some seeeerious history. Wow. I went to Google to translate “so grun ist nur Orange” to see what it was, but Google’s servers or something weren’t cooperating. Is it the transit authority’s attempt to be green? That cathedral… I can’t even imagine seeing it in person. WOW.
