Days 13 14 15 16 in Desertines, France
Left LOTB and Paris Monday morning….no problems getting my eticket from the machine at the station. Nice fast journey across to Rennes, changed trains and arrived in St Malo 1 15 pm to be met by Lin (not Lynne!)..She took me on a tour around the sea walls on foot and we had lunch at a nice restaurant. Lin drove us back to Desertines, she lives in a lovely old French farmhouse.
We all went round to her sister’s place, Lin and her new partner James, who is a Kiwi!! We got on famously, catching up on old times in NZ..and there was Rosie, Lin’s sister, and her partner Robert who is American. Very violent thunderstorm during the evening…and hail!!
Tuesday morning when I went for the first of my morning walks..6 kms the hail was still there in places. Tuesday was a bit of a rest day….
Wednesday Lin and I walked 8 kms in the morning, lovely countryside, cows, the local piggery, fields of barley and maize..James came over for dinner.
Today (Thursday), I walked 17 kilometres (there and back) into the next town Fougerolles-du-Plessis. Bought some lunch at the local supermarket…
Tomorrow we are driving to Cherbourg and I catch a late ferry to Portsmouth, England. It will be my first time in the UK since the last months of my Mum’s life in 2010
Til then, au revoir……….
Bon Voyage!

Seems like you had quite a good time with Lin…she sounds like a generous person. Bonus running into a fellow Kiwi to remember past times.

ryn. yes both poems seem to be angled at perspective.phenominal woman sees herself as such and therefore is.The alien,we all think our own problems are greater than others. We dont know what lies behind the lives of people, maybe before we knew them. Some people seem so calm and ordinary and keep it all to themselves.

Ooh a French farm house? Sounds lovely. I haven’t ventured into the French countryside yet, other than train rides to Versailles. I am really itching to get back to france. Ryn the waiheke restaurant looks great. Checked out photos and reviews on yelp. And k keeps reminding me to tell you that we would love to have you to our house. :). Thanks for the encouragement. Much needed and appreciated.
