The Deep Blue Something

My skin creases from a frost biting truth

A gift from the relentless blue

It’s as dark and deep, as where the ocean sleeps

And the light can but dream to pass through

Blue steals then it heals with cold callous hands

Like a farmer tending his earth

Dig hard and deep, with whatever it let you keep

Daring never to calculate the worth

Blazing eyes, buried knees, as fists clench sky

Fire your spirit  through the deep blue

Send it hard and deep until your eyes weep

Leave nothing, for you can’t take it with you
