Body Art
The chisel hangs about my statue,
nebulous, and
waiting for you, the hammer
to pound into the stone statue
me..
Carve away the lips, from which
words fall
unheeded
silence me forever
Scratch away the eyes
that captivate
ensnare the unwilling
u n k n o w i n g
Lob off the hands
that cling in desperation
to sanity
scrabbling on smooth walls
Dig out the heart
so love’s sharp edges
which cut
which kill
cannot hurt anymore
Or just pound away
unnoticed as clouds of dust rise
blinding
choking
until the statue is gone
until I am no more
than a pile of dust
waiting
to be washed away by the rain
