Reality of War (Poem)
So long ago I never thought I would see,
The things of this world that never should be,
People dying such a horrible death,
Makes me cherish every last breath,
People cheer us and some people praise,
But to me this will only be a great big haze,
Old friends return, and some anew,
All together they brought me through,
Returning home never seemed so good,
Just like fate intended we should,
No more for me, nor for my blood,
No one else will live in the mud.
The mud of war, you never feel clean,
Not nearly as much the earth as is the obscene,
One time I’ll look back upon this day,
And thank God that he did let me stay,
But as for now I look forward to heading back west,
Because I know now that that is where I like it best.
Just thought I would write a poem in here… I hope you all enjoy it.
Love,
The disrupted soul,
Donovan
It was very well written. You’re a good poet.

Thanks for the note…and you KNOW I CARE!!! I’m glad your doing well. And I wish you could come but it is the 26th of this month :(. And yes I miss talking to you too. Sorry I haven’t left a note sooner but that doesn’t mean you haven’t been in my thoughts.

That was really touching, some people dont think of the things that really go along with war. I hope and pray you come home soon. I have posted a letter to you and enclosed some pictures that my little girl made you. I also have added your name and address to our church teen group, they are sending care packages over to some of the men. Take care…Bloomingpetals
