The southern coast of Oregon
Aloha…
It’s been three months since I’ve written at this site… not sure why I stayed away for so long…
A friend request was made to me… so I needed to return to accept it… and here I am again…
It’s been a very nice summer… though truth be told… we had way too many tourists and visitors in our little town…
With the many… many fires inland… people have flocked to the coast to escape all the smoke… due to the onshore breeze…
All is well with me… continuing health concerns… but what the heck (smiles)… getting out and about with friends… daily walks along the ocean… spending time in my yard working (playing) with my succulents… (really Jim… just how does one play with a succulent)…
My first ex wife has called me several times during this past year… I’m not sure that I’ve ever written about her… but as I’ve found her very toxic… I’ve chosen to not have anything to do with her…
Our daughter (who I rarely write about) has not spoken to me in ten years… has three children that I’ve never met… and this is due in some part to my ex encouraging this estrangement…
I’ve learned to accept our daughter’s lack of interest in me… but as you know it takes two to maintain a relationship… so I offer unconditional love… but…
Back to the phone calls from my ex: it seems that our daughter encouraged her mother to move to southern California to be closer to her… but has very little if anything to do with her now… and when my ex said she was having severe financial problems… told me that our daughter refused to help her or allow her to move in with her… guess there’s such a thing as karma… not sure what my ex is going to do… but…
So… wanting to end this entry on an upbeat note… I’m off to the beach… find a place to sit and listen to the breeze… watch the birds… maybe see the ever present deer and rabbits that are often seen on my walks…
Thanks for drifting by…
Aloha oe…
I’m glad to see your words again.
@ipsofacto Oh… thank you for your kind note…! (smiles)

Your ex’s have lost out big time. All the years I’ve followed you have shown a sympathetic kind man. Your daughter and her children have also lost out on an important relationship. I hope that someday, sooner than later, they will realize this.
@trunorth This is as nice a note that I have ever received… thank you for your kind words to me…

Yes, as recall from the old diary days. You had a rather poor opinion of her. I would think in ten years your daughter would have come around and wanted to know her father and want your grandchildren to know you also. I guess there is no accounting for some people.
@dlk082244 People change… my daughter and I were quite close for a long number of years… not exactly sure why she changed… (sigh)
@mauijim Sorry Jim!

I’ve been thinking about you lately and wondering where you were. I’m glad you can decided to come back. I feel your pain with the estranged daughter. It’s been eight years now since my son has spoken to either me or my ex. He’s his own toxic influence. I have two grandchildren that I’ve never met, as well. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one in the universe who has been through this.
@startingover_1 Yes… I understand…
My daughter and I were very close up until ten years ago… just after the death of her sister she married… moved to the San Diego area and I believe still lives there…
She has a wonderful job… three children… and is still married… money is not a problem for her…
And who knows… perhaps in time… her heart will soften…………

Isn’t it nice to see Labor Day come & go, taking the tourists along with it?
Thinking about the Out To Lunch Bunch sitting with iced teas watching the river roll by in autumn … sweet memories.
Sorry you’re still estranged from your daughter — that’s tough as I well know. For my part, she’s in the middle of moving up here now & I’m wondering how it will go between us, & hoping that we can find a way to have a relationship that suits both of us. For the first time since they were both teenagers, both my kids & I will be living in the same town. Gasp!
So as long as there’s a tomorrow, there’s always hope!
@ghostdancer I also miss those days… you… Alan and me… talking story about a myriad of subjects… letting the days drift by…
I wish you success with your family…

I can’t imagine how difficult and heartbreaking it is to be estranged from your child, and missing out on your g’children’s lives. I wish you could find some way to reach out, to extend an olive branch, and it be accepted with joy. 💙
@wayward_woman Thank you… I’ve tried but to no avail… inasmuch as it takes two to have a relationship… I have all but given up… (sigh)
@mauijim I am very sorry. I hope that, one day, she reaches out to you.
@wayward_woman Thank you…
