Playdates, Work, Daycare, Etc

Howdy!

A few weeks ago, I joined a playground on meetup.com for only children.  I met with them once and the people I spoke to were nice enough, but it was at Chuck E Cheese, so .. yeah.  Anyway, I also set up a playdate for Lily with someone from Craigslist.  It turned up really well.  Kira is a little older than Lily (13 months) but they had a good time together.  The best part was when Kira’s grandpa dropped by to bring something over and Kira kept trying to "introduce" Lily to him by petting her.  It was hilarious.  We’re going again tomorrow.  Becca (the mom) is really down to earth and fun to talk to, too.  There might be another parent and his/her kid, too.  It’s not that I need all parent friends now, but all of my other friends work all day and I need something to do on Thurs and Fri when I’m home alone with Lily.  And it’s good for Lily to get to play with a baby closer to her age.

Work is … I don’t know.  I love my job and I like working.  There’s been some talk about me maybe going back to full time, but the word on that changes back and forth so much that I don’t even care anymore.  At first, I was against it.  It’s nice having those two days with Lily and to not have to worry about taking time off for doctor appointments.  But the more I thought about it, the more appealing it became.  In a financial sense, it would really help a lot.  We’re not struggling, but we’re at a point where we have to really buckle down because we have to go to MN in April for Brett’s brother’s wedding and then to GA in June for my parents’ vow renewal.  We don’t want to toss all of that on a credit card.  I refuse to stress about it, though.

I LOVE LILY’S NEW DAYCARE!  I do I do I do I do I do!  Tiffany includes Lily in the "big kid" activities in a baby appropriate way.  They made Valentines for Valentine’s day.  For Lily’s, Tiffany traced her hand, formed it into a sign language "I Love You" shape and put it on a card.  We loved it.  I am a sucker for keepsakes!  She’s also really attentive to what’s going on with the kids in her care.  She keeps track of eating, sleeping and potty habits for us.  She gives us receipts!!  She seems a lot more real than Jessica was in the end.

I’ve been taking an online photography course to help me learn more about how to use my DSLR.  It’s okay so far and I’m learning new things…I’m just having a hard time making them actually work when I’m trying to put them to use.  Oh well, I can always go back and review.

I’m glad you like Lily’s new daycare!! Knowing she’s in a good environment must be real load off your mind 🙂 ryn- Omg I love shopping for sales. In case you need spring clothes for Lily- Did you see Target & Old Navy’s sales on shorts & shirts for babies? $4 each at Target and $5 each at Old Navy… not sure if they’re still going on though.

i never considered looking on craigslist for playgroups! good idea! i love meetup.com 🙂 i used to organize my mum’s group on there, but got sick of paying the organizer fees, so moved it to facebook. i’m so happy you love lily’s daycare; i’m sure that’s a relief! 🙂 ryn: he reads my OD & i kind of (right or wrong?) rely on that for telling him things. so he’s pretty goo at shaping up, but the problem we have is he always goes back to his default, so it’s an annoying cycle. heh.
