Duckie, Lily and Sprocket are taking a nap together right now, so I actually have some time (and the desire!) to write on OD. I don’t know what I’ll write because I have nothing in particular to share, but I feel like it’s been so long that I need to write something. So, I’ll just allow the word vomit to flow.
We changed Lily’s bedtime from 8pm to 7pm. I hated to do it because it means we only get to spend time with her for 2.5 hours on weekdays and, since I have choir on Tuesday nights and work out 2 other days of the week, that cuts my time down a lot. However, it has made all the difference in the world with her attitude. She is actually willingly taking naps again – something she hadn’t done in at least a month and a half to two months. Since she’s actually napping, she’s in a better mood. Since she’s in a better mood, we spend more time actively playing with her rather than trying to calm her when she gets pissy (and yes, this child gets pissy, not fussy). It also makes Thursdays and Fridays, when I’m home with her. easier because I can get a few things done while she’s napping and she’s not making me pull out my hair in frustration because she won’t stop crying. All in all, there has been a major improvement with her and with us.
Lily is doing all kinds of crazy stuff now. She’s rolling over – though for some reason, she refuses to roll over front to back anymore. I’ve seen her do it, so I know she can. She just won’t. So she rolls from her back to her front and then gets mad because she doesn’t like being on her tummy. Tummy time has gotten a little better, though. She doesn’t mind it at all on the changing pad in the nursery and she’ll tolerate it on the floor in there and in my bedroom. Maybe she’s just tired of seeing the stuff in the living room.
She’s having oatmeal for breakfast after her bottle, which is loads of fun. She didn’t care for rice cereal, but she loves the oatmeal cereal. And I love feeding her from a spoon. She gets so excited over every bite. At dinner time, she gets a fruit or veggie after her bottle. So far, she has had banana (enjoyed it), sweet potato (loved it), squash (liked it), carrots (loved it), peas (took her a few times to get used to them, but now they’re okay), apple sauce (tasty) and green beans (loved it). She doesn’t really seem to be much of a picky eater yet, which pleases me.
Right now, she’s getting her food from a jar from the store. I made the carrots myself at home, but then I freaked out because they don’t get as smooth as commercial baby food and I was worried she would choke. Duckie and I are taking a family (adult, child and infant) CPR and choking course on the 17th, so I decided it would be best if I waited on making her food until we’d done that.
I started working out this week. It’s nothing overly serious, it’s some exercise. 2 days a week, I go to the gym with Mandi and we do a fair bit of cardio and some weight training. One day, we do yoga at Mandi’s place. Obviously, I walk the dog from time to time on the other days, too. I thought I’d be broken by the first time, but I actually felt pretty good afterwards.
Duckie got a really nice raise at work. It is going to help us so much. SQUEE!
Work for me is going fine. It’s still kind of slow, but that just means I’m able to read more books. Ha! Which reminds me that I should update my my 101 list with the books I’ve read recently.
One of my faves here sent me two big boxes stuffed full of clothes for Lily. Her daughter also has an April birthday, so the sizes match up perfectly to the seasons. A real life friend of mine in GA sent us a big box stuffed full of clothes recently, too. With those and the big box of clothes my aunt sent some time ago, Lily is pretty much set for clothes until she’s 2. We’ll need to get some onsies here and there and, of course, the occasional super-cute-I-just-couldn’t-resist outfit. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky with all of my awesome friends – internet and real life.
Which reminds me, one of my other faves (who then became a real life friend b/c she lives in my area) is doing a donation drive for clothes for children in foster care. She’s a social worker and has a heart about 15 sizes too big for her little body. She puts so much of herself into helping the children and families that she works with that I thought I would bring her newest project to the attention of my OD friends.
Right now, she most needs clothes for boys (especially fall and winter clothes) ranging from sizes 2T to teenage. Obviously, she will take -anything- that is offered (girl clothes, baby clothes, spring and summer clothes, toys, toiletries, etc). She has an ad on Craigslist if you want to take a peek.
Anyway, if you think you might be able to help her out, shoot her an email through her Craigslist ad.
And…that’s all I’ve got.
I wish people would send boxes of gently used adult clothes to each other like they do baby clothes. That would be super sweet.

Ah. I can’t describe it, really: that warm, glowy feeling that one gets in their chest when good things are happening for friends. I have that right now! I’m really happy for you and your family and your life right now! I’m..going to try to start exercising more this week, too. We’ll see how that goes. In the meantime…hooray you! Hooray everything! 😀

Awe I’m glad she likes napping. I miss naps so much. And YAY for the oh-so-cute-gotta-have-it future outfits. I keep seeing all this cute baby stuff, but I don’t know real life babies yet, nor do I understand their sizes.

That’s something Ash hasn’t tried – cereal! I should do that. ryn: Yeah, that is a cat on her pacifier. It’s called a wubba-nub and it is her favourite thing ever. She strokes it’s ear as she goes to sleep.

ryn: Ash does try to put the leaves in her mouth, but she is good at understanding “no”, so she only tries once (per leaf).
