To all elementary teachers!

This is the part where I feel like I know nothing about teaching!  Since I’m finished with my math training, I returned to teaching summer school.  Mondays and Wednesdays I get 3rd-6th graders and I realized today that I LOVE teaching first grade!  A handful of my 20+ students are disrespectful and I have no idea how to manage upper grade students. AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH! There are a few girls that are really nice and a couple of the boys are super great as well.  There are some kids who make me crazy and I’m excited about working with the K-2 kids tomorrow.  YAY!  Anyone have any suggestions for managment in the upper grades? I thought I learned this in my college courses, but I’m racking my brain and nothing’s coming up about this! UGH!

On a different topic–I love thunderstorms, but not when they keep me awake.  It’s been so blazin’ hot here and our A/C doesn’t work very well.  So last night a thunderstorm rolled in with lightning and a few sprinkles here and there, but I couldn’t get back to sleep completely after waking up at 1:00am.  Ugh, that’s annoying.  I woke up feeling just beat and then had to deal with the kids…it wasn’t my idea of a good time!

Still apartment hunting! Haven’t found anything great yet!

Love,

me

I love thunderstorms, too. I was actually up for that one! Though I was STILL up, not WOKEN up. 😉 One thing I love about not working, I get to be the night owl I naturally am, getting to bed at two rather than ten. 🙂 Sorry I can’t help on the teaching front, but that’s not my field.

By the way, random topic…ran across an older note of yours about your mother sending your wedding dress to you…did you still want to take bridals?

Well I’m high school..but I always assign extra homework or seclude who’s doing the most damage. Extra homework works the best because NO ONE wants it, especially during summer school. And I always let them know their behavior is not acceptable in my classroom–even if I have to stop and waste 5 minutes to get them to be good for 20. Little kids frighten easier. I sound mean here…good luck!
