half the time
Wow! I’m lame and haven’t written for a while. I do think about writing quite often, then I think how much time it takes (even when typing) and don’t have the energy for it! But, since it’s fall break and I don’t have to go back to school until TUESDAY, I’ve got some extra time and energy.
I’ve mostly recovered since my last entry when I was dying! The doctor gave me three prescriptions to pretty much clear out my lungs and airway so I just cough here and there now. No more sickness! YAY!
School is getting so crazy and busy. With the season changing and the holidays rolling around, my kids get more excited which is good, but it gets harder to manage them when they are wound up. I’m being very strict, though. My classroom is sweltering–I can’t decide if I like the freezing cold or the roasty toasty-ness. There is no happy medium in my room. You’re hot or you’re cold! Neither is conducive for my students to learn well. They might as well just nap all afternoon because it’s so warm that even I have to get up the energy to teach. It’s hard. I’m interested to see how the temp changes in my room when winter rolls around!
I am seeing a lot of things I don’t like about my class switching every week. For one, it’s a lot of work to change everything from blue group to red group but more-so it’s that when I get going with a unit or a really good lesson, I can’t continue with it until that group I’m teaching comes back a week later. Then, I have to teach the same thing all over again to the other group. So, I still have to cover all the curriculum, but in half the time. Tell me that’s not stressful! It frustrates me constantly. One of the upper grade dual immersion teachers gave me the idea of switching the students every two weeks instead of every week. I am liking the idea more and more, but there’s still the issue of all the curriculum in half the time! *sigh*
Well, this is about the longest entry I’ve written in a while. I think my energy is spent. Laters!
