Robert at 11 months
11:58pm
I have been needing to do an update in here for so long and just have felt too busy to get online and do it. So let me get right to it!!
Robert’s development:
WALKING: he is practically running!! He got SO MUCH MORE STABLE on his feet in 2 shifts that I worked. (this was already a week or more ago) I came home after 2 shifts and then when I got to see him walk, he had lost a lot of the drunken wobble from before!! I can’t believe how fast this kid progresses!! His "running" is mainly him looking as if he’s about to fall forward, but instead of falling, he just speeds up his feet!!
Because he is up and about he is getting into everything!! NOthing’s safe!! I think I will be buying a toilet latch to keep him from splashing around. it’s just a matter of time before he learns how to open the lid. He already showed us that he likes to get his hands into the toilet if we forget to put the lid down. (he’s so cute doing it, too!)
TALKING: He is just babbling in full babble-sentences!! He uses voice inflections and everything. He really is telling us things, I just wish I could know just what it is he says!! What a cutie!
TEETH: He has the 2 on the bottom, with the space in between. Well, the space is now becoming full of a third tooth down there!! I still think of his snaggletooth, tho, cuz the very first tooth to come in is slightly crooked and up taller than all the rest. It’s snaggley!! And I’m calling him on it!! (cute again!)
Oh, yeah! His 2 upper teeth popped thru about a week ago. At the same time! You can really see them if you are underneath his face looking up into his mouth! They make him look like a little snaggle-tooth rabbit!! YAH!! SO CUTE!
We brush our teeth in the morning!. actually, he likes to watch me use my electric toothbrush, and he tries to grab it. Then I get his tooth brush prepared with his toothpaste and he tries to grab at his toothbrush. If I let him have it he would paint hte floor with his toothpaste!! So I try to get him to open his mouth and let me brush. THen he instantly uses his tounge to try to lick the toothpaste. Sometimes I can get a few brushes in, but it lasts only about 10 seconds of brushing – if that!!
EATING: I typically feed him what I’m eating. Except I have to get his breakfast before I eat, cuz he’s probably hungry, and I’m not typically hungry in the am. Not for a while. It’s coffee for me, and yogurt, chopped up hard-boiled egg and toast for him!! He gets his sippy cup of ice water and he likes it!! When we were at Costco the other day, he got some snacks (free samples). He tried and liked the lentil soup, and then he got some "veggie straws" (crunchy puffed all natural snack that practically melts in your mouth!). Oh, he really liked those. And he could "bite" them with all his front teeth. So I bought the big bag. Dylan reported that he caught Robert choking on one of them the other day while I was at work. I asked if Robert had taken a whole one and rammed it down his throat and the answer was YES. That stinker! I’ve seen him do such things before! So today I broke UP the pieces of veggie straws that I left on his tray.

ATTITUDE: he gets MAD if you take something away, or try to redirect his focus!! He instantly stiffens and his head starts to get thrown back. He’ll nail his head into my chest or whatever.
SLEEPING SITUATION: well, well. I think I’m in BIG TROUBLE. He basically sleeps in our bed!! I can get MAYBE 1-2 hours of sleeping in my own bed without him if I put him in his crib only AFTER he is asleep. If he becomes conscious of being put into his crib. He will instantly get up – while babbling – probably something like get me out of this crib and put me back in that comfy CA King I was just in!! and he’ll travel while sleeping. ROlling over and over, or scooting forward slowly but surely until his head is rammed up against the headboard.
BREASTFEEDING: still doing it as usual. My milk has not increased one IOTA. I still get 3 oz out of the right breast and 1.5-2 oz out of the left. that’s every four hours. When I am home with him he never complains of hunger beyond what I feed him. (milk-wise) But when he is with Roy, a lot of the days Roy has to supplement at the end of the day with cow’s milk. He was giving him 2% (our usual) but I told him to start him on whole milk. Good for da baby!
My eyes are too heavy to continue. At least I got to write a little!!!
Hopefully I’ll journal about our trip to L.A. soon. – oh, and my joining of FACEBOOK and my reconnection with everyone from the SB Hebrew Day School!! WILD!!
🙂 glad he is doing well!

I read somewhere that boys learn to walk sooner than girls. And sure enough, all my friends who have boys report the same. Glad he’s healthy and doing well! 🙂
