We saw COMMON SENSE play last night

9:42pm

Ahh…  a moment to write!  Dang I lost an entry last week when my computer crashed (been doing that a lot lately!!)  I mentioned the death of George Carlin and said that I take my hat off to that funny man, and am so sad he is gone!

I don’t know if I ever journaled about the neighbors…  Don, a neighbor I pass when I walk – or take my climb, died a couple of fridays ago from a terrible stomach cancer.  He was so nice and had such a wonderful attitude toward life and death.  He had strong religious faith and he and his family have been very strong in dealing with his suffering and now his death.  *sigh*

So I found that out on my walk last week, and then another neighbor told me her husband had just passed away 3 1/2 weeks ago from pancreatic cancer that he just had diagnosed in November!!  YIKES!!  They’d been married 25 years!!  *sigh again*  Why do the women usually have to outlive their husbands?!  I don’t want Roy to go first (and I told him he’s not allowed to!)

Last night we went to see Common Sense at a bar called the Belly Up.  We have seen them there a couple of other times.  They really are a band that didn’t get their due on the radio.  I don’t know why – they’re a GREAT reggae band!!  They’ve been around 20 years!  (just learned that last night too!)  Maya went with me and Roy.  Barbara watched the boys at our place!!  I’ve never had a "sitter" come to the house to watch our kids before!  Needless to say I was a nervous wreck!  I didn’t have hardly a minute to get ready for the concert cuz I was feeding everyone, then cleaning up…  There just really doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to get everything done anymore.  Just simple stuff gets glossed right over.  I hope I can get it together soon!  There was so much stress, that Roy and I didn’t really even start to relax until partway thru the ride to the club.  Then we passed our exit (without realizing it) so everytime we got off the freeway at the wrong place, Roy got more and more tense.  I think he finally relaxed at the club. We got a table alongside the band.  We ordered food and everything while the band played!  Maya drank and tried to convince me and Roy to get some alcohol – but it didn’t happen.  Ah well, we probably seem pretty boring to go out with!   We got a view of the front row, cuz of where our table was.  We ended up watching the "groupies" in the front row including this one GUY that was freaking on the dancefloor.  (not necessarily in a good way!)  The chics throwing themselves at the lead singer and the band members was pretty amusing!

I’m going to save this entry now so I don’t lose it, then I’ll just edit it…

There!

So today we went to Costco.  When we pulled into the lot to park I saw this chic with her toddler heading toward her car.  Her car was … a PT Cruiser!  So I had Dylan stay with the baby while I got the "411" on the PT cruiser as a family car.  She said she liked it, but did agree that it had no "get up and go."  Dang it.  That was what I was afraid of.  I think that will make me feel older than anything else will be to change from my car that does have some "oomph" and drive a bigger car with no "oomph."  I’ll feel like an old lady just sluggishly moving thru my life!!  Hmmm…. I’m thinking of asking around what other cars I might look at that would be a good, roomy, gas saving car.  But not too big of a car!!  I’m so picky, but I like a small car.  So to find a small car that is roomy may be a bit challenging.

Roy’s been working a lot lately.  He doesn’t take time out to really rest.  So today when he came home at a decent hour (around 5pm) he came in and rested on the couch.  I was glad to see him do that.  He really needs a break.  but he won’t take one!  Tomorrow we go to his mom’s house for the 4th of July.  I’m supposed to bring a bucket of chicken and I’d like to make the ambrosia salad, too.  We’ll see what I get a chance to do by tomorrow afternoon.

I’ll be travelling back to Indiana on Tuesday with the baby.  So I’m trying not to really stress out and to just make a lot of lists to help with the process of packing.  It seems like a daunting task – travelling alone with baby.  I got real lucky, tho, cuz my dad booked a ticket for me and one for the baby!! Thank goodness.  At least we’ll have room on the plane to hopefully get comfortable.  That reminds me!  I need to look up SWA and find out about travelling with a carseat.  Better do that now!
