Lidice
june tenth
nineteen
forty two
your children were
swept up, unseen
by the enemy
the entire town,
even the trees
lidice
men, boys
lined up, broken toys
side to side
against mattresses
(muffle)
bang!…sound cried
lidice
women, girls
gathered
seperated picked
some saved
for the shade
sighs
of their hair, eyes
the rest……
well
lidice
those girls
those lucky?
not jews, nor german girls
sent away, in the
wind unfurls
to be molded
into………
lidice
they lost
their homes
(raked down to dust)
their families
(burned up to dust)
their memories
(forgotten, filed down to dust)
and yet
a small tangible
tiny miniscule
memory remains
of death trains
of before
as they lived their
german lives
stolen into
nazi families
of
before
again
they are ripped from
those fake
turned real families
returned to the
gaunt shadow of
parents
they barely
remember
language, forgotten
thats what happend
on june tenth nineteen
forty two
in lidice
