Screw you too! *Edit*

In case you have something against medical whining, here is your warning.

Otherwise:

I think this is the first entry of this type I’ve had cause to write this school year.  You know the "Immune System You Totally Fail" type entry?  Right. Here’s one now.  My immune system totally fails, and this time its kind of frightening me.  I’ve been sicker than normal for about a week and a half.  Started with a cold and allergies, turned into a severe ear infection on Saturday.  Wow.  Ouch.  The doctor told me my eardrum was "bulging" and "about to burst".  He also told me that after 48 hours of antibiotics I should no longer be in danger of it bursting.  I was a good girl, took my medicines, slept forever.  I even Stayed Home From Work for a day.  The pain has improved marginally but all I can hear out of my left ear is intense ringing.  I walk like I’m drunk.  I Feel like I’m drunk.  Not the pleasant drunk either.  The, "Oh shit that last shot was one too many, where’s the trash can??!" kind of drunk.  In other words, I have vertigo.

All these things, while unpleasant, do not serve to alarm me.  Not too much anyway.  The alarming thing was waking up yesterday morning with an extremely bloody cotton ball in my ear.  I went to the doctor who informed me that I had likely ruptured my eardrum (after my 48 hours! Grr).  She advised to lay off the painkilling ear drops, gave me vicodin, and told me to come back in two weeks because, "It is healing, just… very, very slowly" and "these things take time".  OK, fine.  These things take time.  I can’t walk straight.  I can’t hear.  My ear is killing me.  These things take time.

But.

I woke up this morning to more blood.  Now I’m really freaking out.  If the rupture yesterday healed where the hell did this blood come from?  Should I be freaked?  Is it normal?

Gah.

Any doctors, nurses, psychics, saints, or other miracle workers out there with a clue as to what’s going on?  Please tell me if I’m allowed to become alarmed.  It would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Oh, and Have a Wonderful Day!   Mine shall be interesting.  Not being able to hear or walk straight makes it very interesting when teaching five year olds.

*Edit*

I meant to edit this earlier.  Things got away from me.  This edit’s only purpose, though, is to say that the doctor gave me antibiotic drops (sent the prescription to my pharmacy) and that I go back on Friday.  I’ve still been in a great deal of pain, but the blood cleared up after about 3 days with the antibiotic drops.

Thank you for your notes, I’ll do a real entry later, I promise!

Aww I’m so sorry about your ear! That truly is one of the worst pains ever (I once had a blood clot in my right ear and had to have some sort of procedure done…Can’t remember exactly what it was called because I was only 10), but definitely not a fun time. I hope you feel better soon and that they can figure out whats going on so it doesn’t happen again. *Hugs*

sorry, never heard of anything like it before…hope it gets better, but i would defo freak out. webmd?

Aww. Poor baby. 🙁 Mary says you need to make sure to clean your ears out. She says it will be EXTREMELY unpleasant, but it is necessary to avoid making it worse. Make sure you stay on top of that doctor. RYN: Don’t worry. Just get better first. Then you can come visit in the summer when you have a little more time.

That your doctor gave you. Keep rested and avoid loud noises to that ear and make sure you avoid any non necessary liquids into it. I hope you remember me 🙂 Gareth
