1-800-NOAH

"1-800-Noah How may I direct your call?"  "Yes, I’d like to order an Ark, a large one.  How soon can you get it here?"

I think I may need one to get to work tomorrow.  *blinks*

Last night we had storms.  Bad storms, with lots and lots of rain.

This morning I set off early, because I knew there were lots of roads under water already, and I knew that the road I take has a tendency to submerge itself.   Unfortunately it was still raining.  Also unfortunately I leave at 6 am each morning, so it was quite dark when I left.  Add to that the rather thick fog covering the road and it was a rather tense drive.  There was more water on the road than I am used to even in severe weather, and in spots that it usually does not flood.  The fog contrived to hide the water, so that by the time I knew there was water on the road I was alread in oh, lets just call it a small stream.  This was particularly frightening at the point that normally floods since my car is low, and at this particular point there was a decided current running through the river.  Had I known this I would not have driven through it.   Had I been able to see the water ahead of time I would have turned around and called in sick.  But by the time I realized it I was in the middle of it.  Then, the idiot in front of my stops at a red light.  The light is for an extremely low lying street that floods every time it sprinkles.  I fought the urge to yell at him that there was no way anyone was coming from that street and could he please bleeping drive because I didn’t want to get washed away by a flash flood.

Once that was gotten through, the rest of my drive was relatively mild.  I arrived at school and endeavoured to keep six year olds completely silent for the greater part of the day.  For those of you not in the know, today was TAKS testing, which does not merely affect those grades testing, but the entire school.  They were using the classroom adjacent to mine for testing, and as my children were talking quietly among themselves at one point during the day, a test administrator came by to ask me to quiet my children.  She was quite nice about it, but… seriously.  Our playground was a lake, so they had no recess.  They were about to split their skins with the sheer amount of energy they had.  I felt for the poor things.

The sun came out towards the end, and I was able to come home with much more ease than this morning.  I let work for my children in case I cannot make it to school tomorrow, which means I will most likely be able to.  Although they are forecasting more rain.

So, in the event of more rain, I would like to request an ark.  Preferably before my city floats away.
