Welcome to 50!
I don’t really feel any different than before my birthday. But I’ve noticed over the last year or so that some people tend to assume I’m not technically savvy or not educated or maybe I’m just a little over the hill. When looking to upgrade my cell phone the young girl explained to me the term ‘megabyte’. I let it go even though I’ve made my living working with computers since 1986. Today a real estate agent said she didn’t mean to talk down to me. Not sure what brought that one on. I’m not truly a business person but my minor in college was business.
But I will say that I’m no longer thrilled by the latest chip from Intel or AMD. VMWare seems old hat to me since IBM did VM back in ’67.
I do recognize that I must push myself to try new things. I upgraded to a Windows phone. Yeah, I know, not an iPhone. But perhaps the most radical change to the Windows OS since Windows ’95.
I was a little shocked and saddened to learn of the death of a former school mate a week or so ago. She lost the battle with breast cancer. She was the first of my graduating class to die of natural causes that I am aware of. It seems that in some ways the most amazing part of her life came after I lost track of her. She was a teacher and later a principal and I am sure she changed many young lives for the better. I remember my friend as she looked in the pictures from her younger days on display at the funeral home. Goodbye Connie. I miss you.
Saw you on the front page. We are only as old as we feel. I feel great! I think 50 is the new “30” anyway.
