NoJoMo Day 2

I’m struggling today with finding something to write about.  My life just really isn’t all that exciting at the moment.

I will be soooooooo glad when this election is finally over with!  I am so sick of all the commercials…..and in my opinion, they’re all a bunch of liars and hypocrites.

So, did I ever tell you that hubby and I went to NYC for six days back in June?  O.M.G!!!!!!  It was the most amazing trip ever!  Our hotel was just a few blocks from Times Square, so we saw a lot of that.  On our second night there we met hubby’s sister, who he hadn’t seen in 20 years, and her fiance for dinner at a cozy little Italian restaurant in the West Village.  It was a wonderful night!!  We talked, we laughed, we ate, we drank…..and I fell madly in love with Sara (his sister)….she is a doll!  She and her fiance picked up the check, which we argued with them over, but they insisted.  It was a lovely evening!

We went and saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway on our third day, and I have to tell you, I was in tears throughout most of the show….it was simply overwhelming!  The day before that, we did one of those double decker bus tours, which takes you all over Manhatten.  That was so much fun….until a loud crack of thunder and lightning lit up the sky….then I was practically crawling over people to get downstairs and inside the bus!  In case you don’t know, I’m terrified of storms.  But luckily the tour was almost over when this happened, so it didn’t ruin anything.

Other things we did while in NYC:  We rode the Staten Island Ferry, then walked over to Pier 14 and walked around the shops there and had some dinner.  There was also an awesome view of the Brooklyn Bridge from there.  We walked all around the financial district, and got to see the courthouse where they film the "outside courthouse scenes" for Law & Order: SVU.  We did the 9/11 Memorial tour….very, very moving.  Yes, I was in tears there, too.  We went to the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), and I have to admit, I wasn’t overly impressed with that.  Some of the art in there was awesome, but the rest of it….wow.  Strange stuff!  A lot of times I found myself looking at my husband and asking, "How in the hell is THIS considered art?"  But I can say I’ve been there now.  We also went to the Top of the Rock, which has a PHENOMENAL view of all of Manhattan!  We walked along Fifth Avenue briefly, and just seeing all these stores I’ve only ever read about had me practically catatonic!  Gucci!  Harry Winston!  Saks!  I kept squealing "Oh my God, oh my God!"  My husband was just a little embarassed…lol.  And of course, FAO Schwarz!  Hubby was excited about THAT store, of course!  We went in and browsed around and it was sooooo cool!  We saw an actor in there with his kids….hubby recognized him right away.  I can’t remember his name, though.  Last thing we did on our last day there was go to Central Park, but we didn’t get to go too far into it, or spend much time.  By this time my feet were positively killing me (I swear, we walked at least 30 that six days!), so we’ll have to spend more time in Central Park (and Fifth Avenue!) next time we go.  And trust me, we WILL be going again!!  There’s so much more I want to see and do there!  So take it from me, if you have the time, and the money (cuz it sure wasn’t cheap!), go to NYC….you won’t be sorry!!!

So, Halloween is over……meaning it’s time to get serious about some Christmas shopping!  We’re back to my favorite time of year, because this is when I get to spend lots of time with friends and family…YAY!!  I think I’m going to go to Evansville for Thanksgiving, then fly out to Washington and see my son and daughter-in-law over Christmas.  Josh (my son) wants me to come out there soooo bad!  He told me "Mom, if you’ll come out here, I’ll help pay for your ticket!"  LOL….he’s so sweet!

I guess that’s it for today.  I’m gonna throw my jacket on and go check the mail.  Hope you’re all having a lovely day!! xoxo
