Sick day
Has anyone missed me? Yeah, I know….it’s been a while. What can I say? Life gets in the way sometimes.
So we’re smack dab in the middle of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"…..is everyone ready for it? This truly is my favorite time of year, and it has nothing to do with gifts. This time of year, to me, is all about seeing and spending time with my friends and family…especially my son! I will be seeing him in….gimme a sec, gotta go count the days on the calendar real quick….11.5 days! I CAN’T WAIT!!!! Haven’t seen that child of mine in a year and there are no words to describe how much I miss him. His fiancee, Mia, will be here as well and I’m uber-excited to see her too and get the scoop on how all the wedding planning is coming along. I heard she already got her dress and I can’t wait to see a picture of it! Josh is also bringing all the pictures from his deployment (his ship was just out for six months) to show everyone…those should be a trip…lol. He got to ride an elephant in India!! (I’m pretty sure it was India, but if not, it was definitely a different country that has elephants to ride). I can’t wait to see all the pictures….and hopefully steal a lot of them to hang on the walls in my cubicle at work 😉
We’re almost done with all our Christmas shopping….just a few more things to get. We went a little crazy on Bella this year (our 2 year old granddaughter). We got her a kitchen with play food to go with it, a Sit ‘n Spin, the Disney princesses dress up clothes, a bunch of regular clothes, the cutest pair of boots I’ve ever seen….all kinds of goodies! Her little sis, our Sophie, she’s only 7 months old so she doesn’t care what she gets….she’d rather have paper than anything…lol! But we got her some cute outfits and some age-appropriate toys that I think she’ll really like, and they’re designed to help with coordination and all that good stuff. I just love love love buying for the babies! I also took two tags off the Salvation Army Angel Tree at the mall in Ann Arbor and did some shopping for a 12 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. I try to do that every year. The thought of a child, any child, going without at Christmas is just not acceptable to me.
The job is going well. I found out just this past Friday that I got a $250 bonus and a $1,250 raise….not bad for only being there five months, eh? And when I thanked my boss he turned around and thanked ME for all my hard work! That meant a lot to me. I really do like where I work and I hope to be there for a long, long time….*I type this as I sit here at home, having called in sick today* Which leads me to…..
I’m having some serious intestinal issues lately, and I’m starting to get worried. If I don’t have diarrhea, and I don’t mean "loose stools" either, I mean pure liquid coming out my butt, then I’m nauseous all the time and sometimes throwing up. And during the times I have diarrhea, my stomach will be making the loudest most horrendous noises….it’s embarrassing! I just know the doctor is going to send me to a GI doc to get scoped (endo and colon) and I am scared to death of that. My sister told me not to be, that she had both done and they put you in a twilight sleep and you don’t feel a thing, but I’m still not keen on the idea. But I’m awful tired of feeling like shit all the time, too.
Oh, how could I forget??? GUESS WHAT!!!! Yours truly…that would be me….got a BRAND NEW CAR!!!!!!! *insert me grinning like a fool here* 42 years old and my very first brand new car….lol. It’s a 2012 Ford Focus, and she’s sooooooo purdy!! The color is candy red (which is the dark red, I don’t like bright, orange-y reds) and she gets fabulous gas mileage! My BFF Robin, along with a lady I work with named Sherika, warned me that I’d better lay off my lead foot because red cars get pulled over more than any other color, but do you think I’d listen? No, Amy always has to learn the hard way. I had the car 2 1/2 weeks and got pulled over for doing 90 in a 70. I was lucky that the cop only wrote me up for doing 80 in a 70, but because I had another ticket less than a year ago (also in a reddish colored car), my insurance went through the freaking roof! My payment jumped up an extra $60 a month….OUCH!!! Needless to say, I’ve removed the lead from my foot (it feels so light and airy now!) and have been doing no more than 5 over the speed limit at any time.
Not much else to report….at least nothing I feel like writing about. The hubby and I…we’re doing okay at the moment. The past 4-6 weeks we’ve had some tough times, but we’re working on it. So if any of you readers are praying people, send one up for me and hubby, would you please? We could sure use it! And I thank you in advance.
I hope each and every one of you, and your families, have a joyous, safe, but most of all, BLESSED Christmas!!
And I promise to try to not take so long to write again…lol! Much love to you all!!!!
congrats on the raise, the new car, and getting to see your son… sounds like you’re having a super blessed christmas! it’s awesome to hear you’re doing so well and in the christmas spirit, for all the right reasons. i hope there’s nothing serious going on in your intestines… i know what a pain the diarrhea and, well, pain can be. praying that everything checks out a-ok… and for you and hubby! and it’s great to see you writing again… feel free to do it more often 😀
