No Time
Haven’t found much time to write lately.
Friday could have tarted better. I arrived at work and realised that I’d left my phone charging in the kitchen at home. My work mobile was out of battery, and the office phone system was down. I was completely cut off.
I’ve been writing training materials all last week. It’s been a rush job, but I work better with a deadline. It needs to be finished today because there is a training course in Mauritius this week. I’m not going of course.
I discovered last week that when I attend my sister-in-law’s wedding in Japan, the plan was to wear traditional Japanese dress. However, it looks like it may not happen now because they can’t organise the clothes. It was suggested however that the boy and I should wear traditional Scottish dress instead. If that happens, I’m so going commando.
The headlines this morning are dominated by government trying to discredit big businesses in the UK who avoid corporation tax. In fact, Danny Alexander, nasty little bloke from the treasury who really irritates me, is basically urging people to boycott Starbucks because they managed to make their tax bill smaller than the government would like. The thing is, Startbucks is only doing what every business tries to do, reduce their expenses and maximise their profits. They aren’t breaking any laws, and they are keeping the price of their products down, which is good for the consumer.
It seems to me that, if companies are not paying enough tax, then that’s a fault of the tax authority, not the companies. I think I may make a special effort to get to Starbucks on the way home and buy something in protest at their treatment.
I agree wholeheartedly about the tax thing. Why do you go to japan? X

Were you referring to the kilt or the cycling class?

That would be kind of cool, a wedding with dress from different nationalities. SO would your wife wear Taiwanese dress?

You’re right about it being the tax authority’s problem.. However it’s still fucking out of order! They have a big chunk of monopoly as it is, other big chains pay their share. Small coffee shops pay their share. The tax authority should change the rules.. I don’t drink Starbucks coffee anyway, Starbucks sucks.
