Things actually spiralled downwards

I have some sympathy for people who become suicidal. I can understand that they must be in a very dark place. I lose sympathy very quickly however when these people choose to throw themselves beneath a train in order to end it all. The entire South West train network was brought to a halt this morning because someone picked Didcot Station as their final and dramatic exit point from the mortal world. Tens of thousands of people were stranded in random places between London and the West of England because one person couldn’t deal with things any more. I was lucky because I wasn’t stranded between stations. I just spend a painful hour on Swindon platform 3 before giving up and going home.

I should have known it was going to be a bad day when the chain came off my bicycle on the way to the station. That is never a good sign.

Things actually spiralled downwards for the entire morning as a matter of fact. I logged on to my email account from home only to find a snotty mail from a colleague in the finance department blaming me for a balls up that had nothing to do with me. And you know when you’re having a bad day, sometimes good judgement and diplomacy decide to run away together and watch from a distance as you make an arse of yourself? It sort of went that way with me today. I decided to reply to the snotty email in equally sardonic tones. I half regretted it ten minutes later. However, it provoked an angry response from the original sender which started something of a war of words. I’m pleased to say that my boss got behind me.

I decided to try and catch another train to work at around lunch time. The timetable was still all over the place, but I did manage to find a train and I ate lunch on the way. Thus, I am now typing this in the office.

In other news, we completed the boy’s Halloween Dracula cape last night and it all flashes and looks pretty awesome. Also, been pumpkin carving…

I completely agree with you. Not only for the thousands of people who had places to be but for the poor train driver who could see what was going to happen and had absolutely no choice but to do it. Nice pumpkin 🙂

I think there’ll be something for everybody. Or else you’ll just get a kick out of seeing the other 2 have a really great day 🙂
