Assuming he’s just an idiot

It took longer than I thought, but they caught up with Megan Stammers and Jeremy Forrest today. They were in South West France. I feel sorry for her. This will stay with her for ever. It will take her years to realise that Forrest is at best an idiot, and at worst a paedophile. Assuming he’s just an idiot, I have some sympathy for him too. He’s ruined his career, his marriage, and he’s likely to end up behind bars. One thing I did notice today was two different articles, one in the Telegraph and another in the Mirror, both by women who eloped with a teacher when they were 15. They make interesting reading.

The dragon and I had a heated debate about this last night. She said she would have let her daughter carry on an affair with the man because trying to separate them is probably what caused them to run off. She has a point, but I don’t agree. I’d have been all over Forrest the moment I found out.

But on to lighter matters. There are a couple of really good stupid stories in the news today:

A cardboard policeman placed in a supermarket to discourage shoplifting has been stolen. Oh the irony! His picture has apparently been appearing on various social networking sites.

Mankinis have been banned in Newquay. Now, don’t get me wrong, I realise that a man in a mankini is deeply unpleasant, but I can’t see what powers the local police have to ban the items. They cannot be illegal exactly can they? So what legislation are the police using to enforce this? This could turn ugly if ask me, in every sense of the word.
