£267

It is something of a novelty, but I a really quite busy at work currently. I hope this continues, but it could just be a symptom of the year end chaos and the Christmas break. Work bores me currently. It doesn’t matter much to me that work is boring. I have much else in my life that is exciting.

Yesterday we were battered by big wind and tempest. Walking home through the town centre was an adventure. I’m using the train again currently, but the bastards have put up my ticket price again by £20 a month. So that’s £267 a month now for a 15 minute journey. That’s just over £3,200 a year now, which would buy you a year’s unlimited use of the entire German rail network by the way, with quite a bit of change.

French children’s fashion label “La Redoute” is in trouble today after “accidentally” posting an advertisement on their website featuring a nudist in the background. The offending picture shows four suitably adorable children running towards the camera on a beach, apparently oblivious to the nudist in teh background paddling in the sea. I find it very difficult to believe that this was an accident, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt anyway. Some have suggested that it was a deliberate advertising stunt. I find that fairly difficult to believe also. You have to be pretty lucky to design somethin gthat goes viral the way this has. It’s more likely some prankster in the marketing department having a laugh if you ask me, but that’s not the point.

According to this report in the Metro, the discussion has reached twitter and facebook, and several disgusted parents have complained. One woman expressed her concern, writing: ‘As a mother, I am not happy to see this photograph.’ Click the link ladies and gentlemen. Take a look at the picture, then ask yourself how that picture could possibly damage a child. It’s completely impossible to see the guy’s willy. It’s not even remotely sexual. I iagine that, like me, most adults would find it vaguely amusing, an dmost children won’t notice it.

Repiping the heating system sounds like fun. As you able to use flexible tubing like PEX or do you have to use metal pipes?

I redid the plumbing of my whole house with copper almost 10 years ago. I know copper is sturdy etc even though it can corrode when you have acidic water. The flexible PEX tubing was not approved in the building code in San Jose at that time. Now it is. It would have saved me SO much time… That replumbing was quite a challenge, laying under the floor for days soldering etc. And of course makingsure the family was not without water too long, so using temporary bypasses. At some point I had used some hoses as a temp bypass, and they started leaking under the floor, so I had to jump down again and put in a pvc pipe temp bypass. What fun.. I presume your challenge might be working the pipes into the walls?
